why you should stay away from high mileage libs

  Top of Page

i just wanted to share why you should stay away from high mileage libs.
when i say high i mean 300,000+ and this is what my car has done
before i start i'm not talking about every lib thats done this kinda mileage cause some still might be in good nik.

gen 2, 95 auto wagon

ok things i've done so far
-transmission got changed(not by me)
-check light was on
changed with new oxy sensor and a knock sensor

changed rocker cover gaskets(old ones were as hard as plastic!)

then  give it a service, plugs, oil and filters.

then i changed timming belt, w/pump, rollers, both cam and crank seals and thermostat and the left cam was out by 3 teeth!!

car was running good until 2 days ago where now i can see yellow oil dripping onto the exhaust at the Y joint. i think its the rear main seal, what a f**k. the transmission has to come out for it to be changed. Also, the left cam seal is still leaking.

the brake pads have to be changed and shocks are soft, also the cv joints have split and the boots on the steering rack have split aswell!!!

other areas of the car, i put in gx seats and carpet from a mint low mileage one and i've changed instrument cluster and steering wheel and don't even get me started on the paint.

during this whole time i've put on 6000k
I still think its a good car and you wouldn't belive it from reading the stuff above but it still drives great:Dance: but far out it needs so much work!!

anyways jst thought i'd throw out a heads up

I am sure this applies to all high milage cars not just Libertys, as the old saying goes you get what you pay for. You probably brought it relativly cheap.
