Why cars will soon be illegal

  Top of Page

Ok I know this whole "hoon" thing has been done to death, but a friend just linked me to this article and I just can't believe what I'm reading.
Read the article here.

Basically, the article seems to be about some people that were in a fight involving a gun. SMH then somehow turns it in to a story about car hoons and drag racing...
Does anyone else think the 2nd half of the article has nothing at all to do with the actual story or is it just me?

Yes, I agree - Its not overly relevant, but it makes a good story, just like the whole P Platers are criminals and are going to kill everyone thing..

I think the point is they only go there to cause trouble, and now there's been an assault and the use of firearms..

How about a massive, wide, perfectly smooth asphalt oval where hoons can knock themselves out without risking innocents lives?  I reckon they'd love it but I also reckon they'd break the speed limits on the roads home!

Bring the speed limit down to 25kmph for drivers under 30!!!!

Yeah thats a fair generalisation. How about we lower the speed limit to 5km an hour for drivers over 30, seeing as they have slower reaction time than us younger folks?

What annoys me most about the article is that SMH seems to go to extreme lengths to link hoons to any story, even when there is no proof that hoons/hooning were involved in the slightest. Just because it was in an area where hooning occurs, they go off on a spiel about how bad young drivers are?

There was a thread setup specifically for politics, All im seeing now is posts about right-wing parties, Labor vs liberal etc..

At the end of the day, I live in an area which is all Labor supporting, although unlike the rest, Im not a sheep, the shire is also a left wing haven too.

What im tying to say is, I dont want to read posts portraying one persons political beliefs wrong compared to another.

John howard didnt drive those cars that did that damage, and Certainly John Laws and Allan Jones, both have views which will be supported by many other people, just because you dont agree with them, it doesnt mean everyone else feels the same.

Further more, I sincerely hope it never affects you, although having lost close friends and family through this rubbish, I dont give 2 f**s, if they crush your car or anyone elses on this forum if they were in the wrong!, along with mine,

obviously you were booked for a reason too.

I dont particularly have any problem with the media and Police cracking down on "Hoons".. Because at the end of the day, I dont want some d!ckhead hurting any of my family or friends when testing out their fully sik skills on a public road..

As someone who does genuinely love their cars and value their short life though, the part that annoys me is that there is very little to no distinction made between these so called "anti-social hoons" .. and those who are genuine modified car enthusiasts.

Unfortunately it's this kind of reporting that ruins it for everyone and skews the publics perception of people with modified cars.

The hoons are the ones with loud pipes and 100% atmo BOV's, weaving in and out of traffic, continually breaking the speed limit, congregating in industrial areas for drags and time-attacks at night, and shooting and bashing each other with baseball bats..

The genuine enthusiasts are those with libertys..  (not mentioned) wink

I have an atmo BOV

I haven't read the article, as I don't read the paper much because it frusterates the crap out of me on the BS they print.

This is all a big media interest because of what happened last week.

Remember what happened with all the P plater crashes 6 months ago......

Same as that, they will stop doing all these blitzes within a few weeks or so.

Police have to be seen to be making an effort to curb these situations/deaths etc otherwise it starts the media on a big slag about the police and their innaction.

imo

^^^^^ i hear that Skooby.

I really feel for you guys having to put up with that crap, but i would have thought that the Police would have more integrity. i mean, why should what the media show/do have any bearing on what the Authorities do? (I understand why the Authorites do what they do, but IMO its not for the right reasons, its more saving face, than saving lives.)

We know that these so called journalists all report utterly blown out and bulsh1t stories. And yet the retarded Australian public laps it up day after day.

So what is this now...? A new "anti-hoon-zomg-sook-sook-anti-p-plater" thread every week?

*yawn*

a) ever been out that way? people that know the area, would tend to agree. its a cesspool of subhuman forms to float about and cause trouble.

b) Police > you.

    Media > you.

Not much you can do about it.

Actually...you can.

Call 2GB & 2UE, and I'm sure they'll care for your concerns.

come down to brighton-le-sands you will see for your self. thu nights we get the motorbikers doing wheel stands up bay st, when i had my bike i had a meet (once only i must admint) with some of these people, most of them could not ride around a corner but could go fast in a straight line. fri, sat, sun nights you get the doof doof boys doing 80 + in a 40 while people are trying to have a coffee or eat dinner in peace. i wish the cops would patrol every night then they would obey the road rules.

i am sure kosti and brendan would back me up unless they are one of them, but i dont think they are in that type of crowd...i hope

OTE=Suprauc]^^^^^ i hear that Skooby.

Yeah, i agree with you.

What i was getting at, is that evertime a P plater has a encounter with a shopping trolley, the media jump all over it. the next day the cops are out pulling ever p plater over.

why in gods name aren't the police ALWAYS pulling EVERYONE over to check them out?  theres more numb nuts drivers with there full license's than there is p platers. And yet they get away with it. IMO its because the media bash on about P platers.

P.S

just saw an Add for ACA or some sh1t like that.
"They were driving a High Powered v6 commodore" in reference to a mob of c*ckheads that got themselves killed up hear last yeah. For a start is was a STOCK VT commodore, which are good for about 90kw@w AT MOST, and yet we get this BS reporting.
Is there an organization that one can join, that has a strict code of conduct? I.e drive like a nugget, act like a nugget, and your out?
As i would be very interested in joining it. And so should alot of people around here i would think.
