Who burns DVD's and with what software?

  Top of Page

Hi guys, just wondering what software some of you may use to make legal archival back-ups of DVD's that you own :search:
:triniti:
Just want a good program that I can use easily and is able to take out un-wanted features to make the DVD fit onto a standard 4.7 Disc.

DVD Shrink and Nero. Both free to download from the net and very easy to use and reauthor discs.

Hmmm I have been using DVD shrink for a few years now and I love the program, but today I found that it wouldn't burn on of my discs, keeps giving me a CRC error, so I borrowed a mates disc who owns the same movie to make a back up of his disc of the same movie and I get the same error in the identical place, so I wanted to try something different to see if that helps............ its only one movie that is doing it but too sad GRR!!

DVD Shrink yeppo. Sometimes Disney films don't work with DVD Shrink, then just try DVD Decrypter. For burning, imgburn.

I use the following programs:

Nero
DVD Fab Platinum
1Click DVD Copy Pro - good program for copying DVD's
DVD Region Free

and to join avi files I use either:

Allok Video Joiner
AVI Mux GUI (fastest avi joiner I have ever used)

I will have to learn how to use DVD Shrink. lol

DVD shrink is probably the easiest copying software out there. Once you use it you'll never use anything else (unless it fails at something :secret:).

It is, but I am only making one archival back-up of DVD's I own big_smile, just incase something happens to the original disc lol

Nonsense, it is a perfectly legal off-site backup that you're storing for a friend :victory:

Not quite as easy as 1Click DVD Copy Pro for making a backup of your movie. :shok:

I like dvd decrypter for ripping, sometime it won't be able to rip the disc due to invalid navigation structure or some b/s (which also happens when you try and backup the disc directly in dvd shrink). For that dvd fab decrypter is the goods wink

And yeah, can't really go wrong with dvd shrink. There is also nero recode which is also good, though the disc usually has to be ripped to your hard drive first

FYI: a good dvd backup resource: http://www.doom9.org/
