I'm growing tired of Japanese Imports. I'd actually love a GTO MR, but getting obsolete parts would be a royal nightmare.

At least with the KE10, parts are readily available, interchangable, and sweet.


Conversion? Define conversion... Perhaps run it with a 4K or 5K motor, on BBQ gas...

There's something about those low backed seats without headrests that make a car feel so good.

Cars don't have soul anymore.

I knew a guy with a KE11... Hell of a car that was. Such a pissy little motor yet managed to get the rear tread to light up big_smile

I too am a member of Toymods.

Haven't been there since I sold my RT142 Corona.

A good friend of mine has a sweet ass TA22 with a 4AGE Conversion running twin dellortos. Induction noise is heaven!



I'm seriously considering selling the GTB for this whilst contradicting myself in what I said earlier.

There is this 80+ year old guy in rockdale that owns a stock completely original, always garaged, bought brand new, mazda RX3... not a capella or an 808, but an original RX3.

it's baby shi* brown in colour, and has the dealership stickers on it from when he bought it.. like Newman's Mazda.. etc..

He has been offered mega cash for it, but won't release it..

One of the boys and I walked up to him, and me mate offered him 20k on the spot for it.. he laughed and said NO!

this was like 3 years ago!

KE10 has a few issues with converting to better stuff, like an unworkable transverse leaf front end, small trans tunnel and the crossmember in the wrong place. KE20/25 heaps better place to start. I've done a few old school Solex-2TG KE25 conversions. KE35's are no good, no 'B' pillar so the body's weak.
A mate of mine has just landed a genuine Tokyo TE27 Levin, complete with factory steel flares, faded olive green paint, mudguard rear vision mirror and Jappo 14" Minilites.

With a KE10, about as good as converting to better stuff would involve an upgrade to a 4K or 5K motor.

Would the small tranny tunnel affect the fitment of say, a K50 (RWD 5 speed corolla) Gearbox?

TE27 Levin = drool.

KPGC10 would be nice. However, I did spy a 2.7 911 RS replica at Sydney airport yesserday in bright lime green with matching roll cage & all metal interior. Oh how purdy. If a lot of money fell in my lap it'd be hard to ignore the siren call of a 1970 Chevelle SS454 with an LS7, Hotchkiss tube frame, IRS, big brakes, etc. Set it up like a Pro Tourer FTMFW.
