Wheel powder coating in Melbourne.

  Top of Page

The gold wheels aren't really doing it for me, but I like the style/shape  http://www.ozliberty.com/home/index.php … p;Itemid=3
I'm thinking of getting them powder coated black.
Can anyone recommend somewhere in Melbourne that they've had good work from?
I saw a while ago someone here was selling some wheels and said in their ad they could organise coating for about $300; is that about the going rate?
Also, does powder coating come in various finishes, i.e. gloss versus matt?  If so, does anyone have any suggestions which is better for looks and/or maintenance?
Cheers,
MArk.

Call Craig from colorurmags.

He's the best... Totally strips the wheel, makes any repairs and then powdercoats to your specification. Top notch work and not too expensive, aroud $350 all up.

I rang Advanced Alloy earlier today and they actually dont do the work there, apparently they send it else where to do.

They charge about $300 each wheel apparently :-\ WTF!!!

That's way too expensive.

Call Craig as suggested. That's where I've had mine done, as did Mark (CRUISN). Top notch work and a damned lot cheaper than $300 per wheel!

I've just gone through this wheel repair/refinish caper.

Advanced Alloys wanted $680 ($170 per wheel) for repair of gutter rash & change of colour from bronze to black.

Got onto Colour Ur Mags after Cruisn's recommendation, $300 (+ something to remove/refit tyres - can't remember how much exactly) for the same thing.

I'm picking up my wheels tomorrow, so I can't comment on quality etc as yet. I dropped them off last thursday and he messaged me today to say they're ready.

I'll give you an update when I get my wheels back tomorrow.

Cheers,
Andrew.

Yep same: rang Craig today, $300 and $90 to remove/refit tyres and balance.
I'm planning to drop the wheels off on Monday.  Please do post back when you get yours back to let us know what you think.

Got the wheels back & onto the car friday.

Very happy with the way they've turned out, Craig's work is top notch.

I'll get some pics up, the textured black finish looks a million bucks!

Good to hear.  You couldn't get any photos up today could you?
I'm dropping mine off today and I haven't decided what finish I'm going to go with yet.

Picked mine up a couple of weeks ago.  Craig's service is fantasitic.  He put a rush on the job for me because I was heading away on a trip.
Textured black for me too.  I'm stoked with how they look.  It just makes me wish the rest of the car was black now too!
