What kind of car is it?
Regardless 20" wheels wont fit.
And its my opinion that both of those are horrible.

Look for some tuned by STi liberty rims.  They look good on just about anything.

Hi, I think it depends on what kind of style you are looking for your ride. There are plenty of other brands that will shows a bit of bling. Here some website that I think might looks good on your car.

Re: What wheels you think?

Both are horrid imo.

Apec = cheap eBay wheels.

With 20's obviously you are never going to take your outback, to the "outback".

Re: What wheels you think?

the wheels are OK its the size thats got me worried, what are 20 inch rims going to acheive? how often do you drive the car, how much modey do you have for tyres, what happens if you scratch one, are you going to replace the suspension to accomidate such wheels, what are they going to scrub on, how wide are they going to be? these are afew of the questions you should be asking yourself before you buy wheels that are far to big to be practical and cost effective and comfortable to drive on.
My opinion?

get some 18's can fit big F@ck off brakes under them, fill the guards and are reasonably cheap to repace one and you can put good quality tyres on at a reasonable price.

Fair question i got my 2004 outback for $15000 that why i am playing with this instead of buying a liberty for 24000+ and to the other post not its not going outback, just a 1km dirt road home. how out back could you go with this honestly i would get a 4x4 for that. thanks for your time mate

You'll be for ever cleaning chrome and with a dirt road there's a good chance it will chip and flake. On top of that, with dirt roads come big f*ck off pot holes.
Chrome rims don't like being bent.

Powder coat ftw.

hi, thanks for you response, this is my general car, i want to get some 20's to make it look a bit more classy i am going to lower it with new springs, these rims come with tyres. they are eather 7.5 or 8 inches with i have a friend with 8" with wheel already (rolled gards). oh and lastly what do you mean by scrub? like rub when the wheel is locked left or right?
thanks joel

Re: What wheels you think?

Hi,

A lot of the ozlib members don't like 20" chrome bling bling and feel it's their duty to bash (post whore) people for their choices.

Personally I like the look of the first set of rims, but I would not get 20" rims for the following reasons*

"1"

1) Rubber: Its going to be very expensive to get rubber to suit these tyres
1a) The rubber you get will be like an elastic band. It will reduce your ride comfort and reduce the potential protection to the rims from the road
2) Big chrome on the road: Like soop said, hit a pot hole with these things and little rubber, it may just bend or flex the rim. Chrome does not take well to being stretched.
3) Legality

Realistically, you have an outback. It's not a car designed to be classy. If you want class, bet a bmw or merc.

*unless the car was designed with a large diameter tyre and wheel in mind

Have you looked into Off sets?
Are these wheels available in the correct off set? ( 5X100 - +55)

Will 20x8 rims fit your car without fouling on the guards and/or struts either at full lock or at maximum suspension travel?

Re: What wheels you think?

1. 20's will be illegal as they will be outside the allowable total diameter inc tyre.

2. Tyres you get in that eBay "package" will be cheap and i can bet my arse they'll be under load rated.

3. 20's plus dirt roads dont mix.

4. Those 20's will weigh a tonne.

Ive had 20's on a previous wagon with lowered suspension. I couldnt even imagine driving it on dirt roads as i was costantly looking at the road surface ahead trying to dodge any irregularities. The ride is far from comfortable and i wouldnt do it again.

But it looked f u cken awesome. big_smile

Thats the price you pay. wink

Re: What wheels you think?

Correct me if I'm wrong.
But I thought Gen4 Liberties/outbacks were available with 18" rims (3.0-R?). So with the generalised +2" diameter rule, they would technically be legal.

Hi,

Your biggest issue will be getting a load rated tyre, and a legal width rim.

If they are indeed within the legal parameters, you have my blessing to tell all these haters to remove a couple of ribs and suck their own cock.

Because quite seriously, that second set of rims, on an Outback, would look absolutely awesome. VIP styles for sure.

Do it man. Hate is jealousy.

Cheers,
Nik
