Sounds like I'm the old bastard around here! I work as an I.T Application Architect for an insurance company, do software performance tuning, design changes, that kind of thing. Mmm, I sound like Slartibartfast off Hitch-Hikers Guide! smile

I did start on my MCSD.Net last year, but I now need to learn J2EE for work instead, so .Net's on hold. Yeh, I earn craploads of money, but still paying off debt from a divorce 5 years back. Boo.

Oh yeh, I also play bass guitar in two bands, only recently got back into it. If you live in Sydney, lookout for Elias playing nearby, that's me! (Appearing at the Cat & Fiddle in Balmain next Monday night!)

I wanted to study architecture, but the careers advisor at school put me off. I was going to be a musician having trained in classical piano and trombone from the age of 7. But I went and put Medicine at the top of the uni list, didn't I.

Ah well, there's worse jobs than General Practice.

My my, what an eclectic bunch we are! Well, let me throw my bit in.

'Old school' IT geek am I.

15+ years in IT industry. Varied background, from hands-on technical roles in PC and midrange teams, to being an application team leader and application deployment lead, plus some yrs in IT project management as well.

In my spare time I play with PCs, Linux and my PS2 big_smile

Otherwise I enjoy driving my B4 and reading what others have to say on certain Subaru and performance forums!! big_smile

Currently 'in between' jobs (looking for work tho) and bumming around....  :Dirol:

It's amazing how much extra spare time you get when you go thru a bit of organisational restructuring and then a sudden round of redundancies occurs... :Dntknw:

Even the industry's biggest IT services company is not immune to such happenings

Oh well, good chance to go sell my skills elsewhere

Mechanic. 11 years experience, started at a Subaru dealership then a steering and suspension shop then a bit of Mazda/Subaru action now head mechanic at Sunspares Subaru. Pay is shit for the amount of knowledge and skill needed but at least I don't have to pay to modify my car(s). smile
