That means nothing, I had an Impreza with 1993 0n the door but it was sold on Dec 30'th 1994, that's when the shell is made in Japan, usually Subi's change model year around September the year before the MY, so a car could be Oct 97 Vin but it's a MY98 model even though officially it's still a 1997 car. |

I should have read this properly, 95/96 were the same & 97/98 were the updated series 2 so it will look like a 98. |
