This is one of my first posts here. Ive been an avid reader and also of liberty.asn.au for a while and finally, the misses' Honda is asking to be sold so Its time to add a new wagon to the stable. Ive currently got a 93 liberty wagon for running around and I love it.

We are looking to buy something in the next few weeks and Im trying to decide if a nice 2000 gen 3 2.5l with maybe 120-150,000 on the clock for something like $11 or $12,000 is the go or if we shoulod dig a bit deeper and extend ourselves to a 2004 or 2005 gen 4 with around the 100,000 on the clock for $19,000- $22,000?????


Id love to convince the misses that we need the extra safety and reliability of a black or silver GT wagon with STI rims because they have 19 air bags and only use 2 litres per 100 kms and Subaru platnts 6000 new trees every time a used GT wagon is bought but she gets that funny look in hers eyes that she gets when I go to the pub so I dont think Im going to convince her.

Are the 2 litre NA engines worth considering in the Gen 4 or are they a bit harsh compared to the smoth and proven 2.5.
