Turnin and Burnin

Well, apart from the jet going U/S (breaking) I'm up for a F/A-18 Hornet ride this Thurs at lunchtime :clapping:
Part of the farewell a select few get when posted out of one of the Hornet squadrons.
Flight will included aerobatics, Mach 1+ , High Alpha, low level thru the mountains of Buledelah and a 150 to 700 knots low alt drag up Stockton beach.
Back seat passengers get to fly it too :-) at a safe altitude of course.

Will have video camera in hand, perhaps a sick bag in the other, so should get some video, still shots at the very least.

Can't stop grinning !

Sweet, i have loved jets since i was very young.

i been in a Tigermoth a few years ago and got to do some aerobatics.. was very exciting

only mach 1? geez. i saw a jet shooting past at less than that at the avalon air show last march/april, and it went from a speck 1km away to the left to a speck 1km away to the right in 5 seconds. followed by an ear shattering blast. i got so many photos of just sky that day. and a rare few with planes in them. like this :

Well I've done almost 7 years at 77 Squadron and with 17yrs under my belt in the RAAF I guess I moved to the top of the food chain.

Well, what can I say, what a ride!
Managed to heave my ring piece out but that's all part of it. Great fun but don't think I could handle it again. I know, weak as pi55.

Only filmed a couple of minutes burning up Stockton Beach.  Got some footage of HUD showing 500kts at 500ft, should have done the same with the Mach 1.1 run at 20000 ft  :-( 
Had a bit of a fly at high altitude but the bumpy ride initially down low had me very worse for wear.

dude I am f**kin green with envy!! I have always wanted to go in a fighter jet :superman:

hope it was as fun as I have always pictured it to be... :cray:

if you want a near experience but close to the ground, I'll ask the bloke to lend me my commo back for a day and take you for a ride in a real jet!big_smile
