Someone posted about a kit they made that displayed real-time gearbox F/R split %.

Can anyone point me to that post ?

It would have been towards the start of the year at least. It included a youtube clip of the display being demonstrated.
I'm sure I read it here, well as sure as I can be.

of course it's only relavent to auto's
standard 5speed boxes are 50:50 (until a wheel loses traction)
but then it's only a function of the open/ Vlsd diff's working

That's correct, most of the manuals aren't variable in the same way as the autos are. Presumably they did it with the autos to save some fuel.
DCCD manuals are a different matter of course!
