Top gears take on the new dubRX vs EvoX

  Top of Page

Well, boo hoo for scoobies!

"Lets be honest shall we. It's uglier than a war wound"
"Far too soft and wollowy(sp)"

Then he goes and does sick 'nuts around the WRX sti with the evo haha

STi: 1:28.2. I could not make out what he said for the FQ300

From watching the footage, the wrx really seemed to be a pile of understeering body roll

Discuss ?!

1:28.6 I believe. It was slower anyway...
Which was surprising because the WRX really did look slower, especially going round hammerhead with 5 buckets of understeer.

I think an STi in world rally blue with gold wheels would look ok... The red one they tested on TG looked like ass though.

The Evo did a time of 1:28.22 so was the tinyest bit slower.

The STi is quite good just is ugly i like the front but the rear is well not nice.

hopefully they bring out a revised model soon though.

Even though it was 'slower' around the track i'd still rather the evo.

Does anyone here have a new rexxy? Are they happy/regretting their purchase?

The STI was 7K POUND cheaper than the Evo they tested against - You put that 7KPound towards Suspension work and see where you'd end up... Remembering just how much 7K pound is.

such a simple thing to do and it makes the rear look 10 times better...

Not sure that you would get AUD 14Ks worth of work for GBP 7K in the UK - you may get quite a bit less. Subaru's aren't as numerous (ie. as popular a brand) over there as they are here, and the UK is generally more expensive - although Australia is a lot closer than it used to be.

I imagine though that what you could get for GBP 7K would still get the STI handling a lot better...

Hi,

Thanks for posting.

If the new shape Subaru takes out the next five WRC's then it will quieten a lot of people.

Cheers,

Re: Top gears take on the new dubRX vs EvoX

Yep i got one.

And yes it is a bite sh!t in std form. IE....... too soft, too slow, too quiet.

I have done things to counter these issues.

*Set of super low king springs

* Bypass the faarrken huge rear muffler

* Take the front of the air box off.

So i now have a car that sounds good, and handles awesome........ still workin on the power issue!!! I did come from a stroked and worked B4, so its got a bit to go to get that power

quoted for emphasis, you did have a 2.2 litre monster so thats a fair different to a FACTORY tuned wrx with all emissions and a subtle tune. also power figure is ONLY 169kw and it still gets to 100 in under 6 sec.

But have you sent he pics of the sedan.....fugly, looked like a Tiida. I viewed them before the MY08 hit our shores so they may have changed it slightly. The hatch look is here to stay I think, just look at the success of the BMW hatch and Focus XR5.

Nick

PS: Me and some Subaru guys were flogging one around (RS) pre-delivery to the Cop Body Shop. Was fun. They are still an awesome car, so I agree with the guys above.
