To Sti Or Not??

  Top of Page

Ok so the discussion came up today about putting an STI badge on your subaru when it is infact not tuned by STI.

I was quite offended to hear that it would be the same as putting a GTR badge on a GTS-T. Placing a GT or Spec.B badge would be the equivalent. STI is the same as Nismo.

What are your opinions on this?

Is it acceptable to put a STI badge on a Subaru?

My opinion is if it has STI parts in it/on it. It is acceptable.

I'm personally a fan of the de-badged look.
Nice, clean and simple.
Advertising bits is not my style at all.

But at the end of the day, your car is your car, do what you want..

Personally I think it’s a no no...

I really don’t see why you’d want to ad extra badges to your car anyway???

It's your car though so do what you want with it

IMO

Even if you have sti bits its not an STI so don't put them on.

But its your own car, so do as you will.

I'm still under the impression that STI is the performance brand of Subaru, similar to NISMO.

So placing a STI badge is like placing a BILSTIEN decal on a car.

You guys make me feel bad now... I have gone against all in what I believe in.... ::suicide:

Up to the person, but why do it when the car isn't that model, it's like when ppl pop on a M3 badge on a 318i or a chevy badge on a Holden.lol

I say de badge urs mate or grab a nice Jap style Suby badge.

Well then it comes down to is there an STI model, or STI special edition?

Like NISMO released the special edition NISMO GTR, but placing a nismo badge on a car is acceptable... IMO

Its not like its trying to be a STI, but only supporting STI. (tuned by STI would be another story)

De-badge aye? but then no-one will know what car I have, all those kids cant say "I want that.... no-name car!, What is it?" hahah

Say for instance you have a v3 sti block in your gt. A small decal may be permitted but with nothing sti then rice. Like an Excell with a bodykit and cannon. Too tryhard.

There's a couple of things to consider.

1) >>Its not like its trying to be a STI
I think it is.  esp. when selling a car, it is a bit like false advertising.

2) aside from that, as long as it's faster, handles better, and looks meaner than the factory STi/tuned by STi, then it's ok.

To me an STI is like AMG for merc.

Its there performance arm.

Now if you have sti bits, and you put a tune by sti decal, that is ok.

But an STI is a full on built STI not a normal car with sti bits.

Putting a bilstein badge on your car is useless unless you are running bilsten suspension!

As bad as this sounds but aren't Tuned by STI Libertys normal cars with STI bits? The only Libertys built by STI were the S401 and now the S402.

A simple no, Sti badges go on a car created by, or tuned by, Sti. Doesn't matter how many Sti bits you put on it cause your not Sti, so no badge.

PS. Nik how about losing that giant sig now the event is long over?  Maybe, pretty please:help:
