Time for STI conversion

  Top of Page

The time has finally come to give in on the old TT engine and go for a sti engine conversion. Head gasket has gone and not spending any more on the old set up. Have already rang Al at Am Auto as I have heard he is the guru in this area and he said to go for a ver 8 sti engine package which he can supply and is in the budget I am looking to spend. He also said it will bolt straight up to my old 5spd gearbox which will keep the cost down as opposed to getting a 6 speed at the same time which will more than double the cost. Problem is I am in Adelaide so I need someone in Adelaide who can take out my old engine and wiring loom and send the loom to Al at AM Auto so he can splice the loom with the new sti one. Then Al can send the new engine and spliced loom back to be installed back in the car. Does anyone know of any body in Adelaide who can do this for me as it is a bit over my head! Al says it isnt that hard once you have the spliced loom but bit beyond me. Any one in Adelaide done this to a gen 2 TT legacy before?

In all honesty it's quite an easy job. Getting the dash and wiring out is a bit of a pain, but really it's just a matter of "undo the bolts till it comes out". It's a very rewarding job to do yourself.

If I had the space and time i probably would tackle this myself but its just not possible. I have a single car garage that the car barely fits in & both my wife & I work full time on different shifts & a 3 year old to look after as well. So like I said I just dont have the time or room to do it. Got cash to pay someone but no one seems to be able to help me. Al at Am told me to ask around on RSLC but cant even get onto the forum, been in moderation queue for 3 days awaiting activation!! Dead ends every where....

Ok I have finally found someone in Adelaide who is keen to do this for me, Billsy put me onto one of his mates that has done this type of conversion on several cars.  Car has been there for few weeks, loom has been sent to AM Auto for splicing and new engine is here and ready to go in. Which leads me to a new topic, got few TT performance parts for sale! Which include, MRT TT dump pipes, Fujitsubo TT headers, vf 26/27 turbos with ported ECV & waste gate (porting by Billsy), Zerosports sequential controller, Cooling Pro TMIC with attached GFB Mach1 BOV, Haltech platinum intercepter tuned for TT with these mods, and just about anything else TT. Be reminded that these parts still need to come off car and have no photos yet, may be a few weeks. Will start new thread for all this

Version 8 JDM STI engine package sourced from AM auto with 80,000kms on it. Has a HKS GT2835 turbo with custom headers, bigger injectors & HKS fcon vpro ecu....Just gonna have to be gentle with my old 5 speed that I'm keeping! Cant afford the STI 6 speed yet. No brembos either yet but have the old GC8 STI 4 pots on the front that pull me up pretty well

Your box should be ok, I've been running a v7 motor with a 5 speed for over 12 months now and it's running fine.
Sounds like a nice little package!
