The ponderings of a lonely person loading the dishwasher.....

  Top of Page

I had a strange thought while I was loading the dishwasher after dinner tonight - do Subarus come with sheep skin seat covers in New Zealand that they call them Subaarus?

This thought comes as I test drove a second hand outback at a Subaru Dealership.  The sales rep was a Pom that had just moved from New Zealand - I said to him - "You're in Australia now mate.... they're called Subaru"

If the Japanese that I learned in high school serves me correctly, there is no "baa" sound in the japanese vocabulary.

Any other random thoughts like this out there?hmm

...Kinda!!

The Japanese alphabet is consisted of very few singular letters. Eg, 'n' can sit by itself.
They usually group 2 letters together to make a sound. Eg'ka' is a letter and is represented by one symbol; 'か'.
There are sometimes 3 as well. Eg 'Tsu' and 'chi'

Mazda is the english pronounciation of Ma tsu da (まつだ)

Same with Mi tsu bi shi.

'N' is one of the letters which can be by itself. So its ends up being Ho n da (ほんだ)

Su ba ru is すばる.

And thats only one of their languages. They have multiple!

I knew getting 100% in year 8 Japanese would be useful for something!!

Kim Jong Il: Hans Brix? Oh no! Oh, herro. Great to see you again, Hans!
Hans Blix: Mr. Il, I was supposed to be allowed to inspect your car today, but your bonnet won't let me enter certain areas.
Kim Jong Il: Hans, Hans, Hans! We've been frew this a dozen times. I don't have any turbos of mass destwuction, OK Hans?
Hans Blix: Then let me look around, so I can ease the NSW Police's collective mind. I'm sorry, but the Police must be firm with you. Let me in, or else.
Kim Jong Il: Or else what?
Hans Blix: Or else we will be very angry with you... and we will write you a letter, telling you how angry we are.
Kim Jong Il: OK, Hans. I'll show you. Stand to your reft.
Hans Blix: [Moves to the left]
Kim Jong Il: A rittle more.
Hans Blix: [Moves to the left again]
Kim Jong Il: Good.

Tristan Korean is closer to Mandarin than it is Japanese. All three share some similar characters though.
