suspicious odometer

  Top of Page

Hi all, the other day when cleaning i noticed dirty fingerprints inside of my instrument cluster screen, which was suspicious to begin with, then when i ticked over 200,000km i noticed small nicks and scratches on the cogs of the number "2" on the odometer, so i am umder the belif that the previous owner, a guy who i bought the car from not even 2 months ago has manually wound back the odometer by removing the cluster cover.

so i think my car has really done 300,000km, which when i was buying the car was under the belif it had done 198,000

i will call vicroads in the morning, but does anyone know about my options, what can i do?

Also i dont believe the previous owner had owned the car for very long at all, as i had found reciepts (under the carpets in the back seat) from the other side of the city by 150kmfrom a servo which were dated just 3 weeks before i bought my car
