G'day all. Just introducing myself here... I have owned 2 Subarus. First was a 81 or 82? Sportswagon that is hopefully still alive unless it got eaten by the wreckers. My second and still current Subaru is my 92 Liberty GX. It has no modifications - Stock standard.  It is the best car I have ever owned. Starts every time. Its getting to around 290k and has check engine light coming on after warming up (looking into it). I've taken this car up 4WD tracks, its been smashed over rocks and at one stage there was so much mud, the steering rack locked up and had to dig it out to steer again. Never had a car that can take so much abuse. These days its driven on the road and it needs some attention. Subarus are a great piece of engineering. When anybody asks me what car to buy...
