anyone know anyone of know anyone that knows someone with a highly modified subaru svx? wondering how they go because they sure as hell look the part. ive heard the drivelines is taken from a gen 1 lib so theres room for improvement. heres one with a 5 speed from a forester and a couple dash mods http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oE8Ec9maTYc

i read up a fair bit on his project when i was looking into buying one...
and there WAS a site i found (forum) that had a fair few guys doing the same thing, and highly N/A tuning them. (comp chips etc) and also guys trying to supercharge them.:clapping:

yeh im really curious about them because i want to eventually move up from my gen 1 lib and i cant stand turbos (no offence) because of the lag. ive looked at the conversion pizzabox did which is crazy. i want a na suberu that i can mess around with the cams and valves and a 3.3 quad cam would be awsome. if i decide to go away from subarus i might for for an ebII xr6 they are still made to handle on the track. v8s sound awsome too but just arnt as flickable. anyone got any other suggestions???

eb falcon a track car? are you fking serious?

turbo lag? you'd rather a 1700kg subaru than a 1400kg liberty with a vf34? go drive one mate you have no idea!

eb series 2 xr6 falcons are the grouse 7.2 seconds to the 100 handling was re designed from the base model by tickford theres not much off the stock falcon. they would thrash every other ford and holdern in a corner for their time and are o so modifiable. i know blokes with 170kw and 200kw atw 2002 rexs they are fast but im just not a fan i want power through the rev range. svxs were made to be cruisey i rekon rather than a full on boy racer car subey was making the rs for that wernt they?

Eb falcons DO NOT HANDLE. period. Fords never have.
They weight a tonne, power/weight ratio is up the arse.

170kw in a Eb falcon vs 170kw turbo WRX, the WRX will kill it left right and center.

The WRX is more reliable.
The is lighter
The WRX handles better.

The V8 makes more power, Will handle just as well (as s**t as it is) as the 6cyl.

dude, go join a ford forum. if you think that an eb falcon will do 0-100 in 7.2 your dreaming. if you think it will handle anything like a subaru your dreaming.

wrx understeers all subarus do y do u think all race cars spare rally cars are rear wheel drive or at least rear wheel favoured wrxs handling is easy and safe lap around bathurst 1992 xr6 vs 1992 rs (being fair year to year) the xr6 will s**t all over it. if u want to talk wrxs what will they cost u? a eb xr6 will cost today around 4-5 grand that leaves over 10 grand for mods that will more than catch it up to todays wrx and it doesnt have that anoying lag and if u want a turbo ive scean xr6s with 9psi with 290atw

because i like subarus i was curious about getting another suabru or modding mine for more na power then knob here comes along wanting an argument and what can i say hes wrong alot of the time. he was saying before that cold air intakes (pods) dont do anything ive had heaps of mates dyno before and after intake work before the intake manifolds and they reveal a fair bit of improvement. base what u say on something suburac instead of talking s**t

Mate i struggled thru your Horrible posts. But here goes.

AWD does not automaticly mean understeer. With the correct suspension components, they Oversteer quiet alot. I know i drive one that does.

Annoying lag? You obviously have never driven a decent turbo car. Yes there is some lag, but IMO Subaru's deal with it better than any other car. (Honestly i've only driven; Sr20T Silvia, 2JZGTE Supra and a 98 STI WRX.) Out of those three the STI was by far the most responsive.
The fact you can keep it on the gas thru the corners means faster lap times.
With the RWD you have to get off the gas. Not doing so will end up with either chronic Oversteer, or the reverse. This is bad for tyres and bad for lap times.
They also cause a vortech in the intake air flow, from what i have read this can effect the Air fuel ratio's, resulting in an overly rich or overly lean ratio. Both of which are bad.
CAI vs stock on a turbo will always reveal an improvements
CAI vs stock on NA will result in a small amout of increased throttle response, i know this because i have done this.

I suggest before you start making wild claims and accusations you do some research, as was show with you XR6 0-100 claim, you clearly do not know what you talk about.

The reason alot of race cars are RWD, is because most touring car compititions requier the participants to use certain cars.
RWD and FWD are alot cheaper to produce han any AWD cars.

AWD:
GTR
GTIR
EVO
WRX
STI
Audi's
go check the prices on these.

RWD:
Comodore's
Falcons
BMW

Yes there are expensive RWD cars, this generaly comes down to the materials used in the driveline, and the technology used.
Im sure i could think of more, but get your head around that.

All AWD, and all very quick track cars. All will beat a $4000 Falcon with $10,000 worth of mods, despite being AWD. Funny that, eh?
Also of note, more recent STi's feature a diff setup (DCCD) which allows you to adjust the front-rear bias at will. Even in full auto, the system selects a 65% rear bias.

Edit:

I should also mention the only factory car that comes close to matching the Veyron's output is the koeniggsegg, which is basically undrivable because it has such a rediculous amount of power driven only through the rear wheels. What's this tell you about RWD setups?
