by B4Cruiser on 16-12-08 01:36 PM Thats a major blow to the WRC... Not much of a 'world' rally championship now is it. Judging from the article with only Cit and Ford left, how long have Mits and Peugot pulled out of the wrc? |

by Kevlar GT on 16-12-08 02:15 PM Apparently they were going to pull the pin at the end of 2009, just a reason to do it early. Go Skoda ! |

Don't be too sure on that - dependson what rukes the FIA implement. At the moment they are looking to get rid of WRC and go to S2000 regs - which is if I understand correctly - naturally aspirated, front wheel drive production-based cars. Think naturally aspirated Group N - much like the ARC Toyota Corollas. |

Front wheel drive is only for the Super 2000 touring cars, awd is permitted in rally. They are basically trying to get more diversity to the range of cars entering these motorsports. Im almost certain Subaru will be back to to raise the bar. |

Rallying is at the heart of Subaru - however, by all reports the new rules were not to Subaru's liking. 4WD may well be permitted under the S2000 rules, however, a NA 4WD rally car may not be as competitive as a NA 2WD rally car due to the extra weight of the 4WD system. I really do hope that Subaru will be back - but it may not be under these regs. EDIT: I stand corrected on the ARC Corollas, they are indeed 4WD - so weight may not be the issue then for Subaru. Perhaps the lack of turbocharging in the S2000 regs isn't to their liking? Any NA Rex I've been in hasn't been particularly powerful. |
