Yeh.. you can deffinately get a good flutter out of a WRX.. our rex just has an exhaust and you get a sweet fluttering sound on back-off..

been looking on youtube still cant find a good one with a flutter come on guys need to prove them wrong, anyone got a sound or vid clip on there pc...???

Hey, i know of 3 subarus that do it.  Mine, my bros, and my friends.  They are a B4 Liberty, XT Forester and 03 WRX.  If my car would hurry up and leave the workshop i would get a sound clip for you.

yeah thats true. We all have front mounts, pods and aftermarket blowoff valves and bigger turbos to get the flutter.

Its very simple really... get an adjustable BOV, tighten it up as tight as it will go(or block it off totally)... fit a pod filter... and you will get flutter...

As it has been described earlier, it is simply the air from the intake going backwards through a spinning turbo... as soon as you let off the accelerator, the butterfly in the intake manifold closes forcing all the air the turbo is still pushing to go somewhere... and if the BOV doesnt open then it will just go back through the turbo... creating the "flutter"...

As has also been said, more boost and longer piping will mean more air to get rid of meaning more flutter...

My old WRX had a massive FMIC(hung about 2.5 inches below the bumper) and it used to flutter quite loudly on 18psi...

If your mates reckon it cant be done on a subaru then they really have no idea about what makes the sound as it could be set up on any vehicle with a turbo... :Dntknw:

I have a Top mount, and mine flutters, pretty loudly now too as my blow off is tightened up...

standard top mounts with a tightened aftermarket blow off will "Flutter"

Cars with high boost, and long piping to a front mount cooler "Chop" (sydney lingo)

My flutter is pretty loud but very short spaces between each flutter, eg

su.su.su.su.su"

Where my mate is running a frony mount on his VL with 30psi, and it chops" eg.

SU........SU..........SU.............SU....... and so forth, If your not at your own computer and have people around you, I strongly suggest you dont try and remake these sounds aloud, as you may look like an idiot.. :blush2:

you are correct B42.2, but i guess thats the risk many people have to take if they want flutter.

but you will see many people who have their cars fluttering for around 100,000kms with no problems with the blades.

but a word of warning. The bades might look good from front on, but check behind them as thats where they tent to crack

I get HUGE flutter if i back of slowly when I boost hard or when Im just pottering around. Under full boost and quick changes its just a solid SHOOOOOO
