First one.... 9kph the speed limit... 69 in a 60 zone. $100 and 1 point, god that's annoying.

A street away from my house as well... Guess I know not to speed in my own neighbourhood now :@

looks to me like you dont know your neighbourhood that well... if u drive there everyday you would know where they hide and hang so you would know not to speed there...as unfortunatlly cops are very predictable they stick to the same hideing places....:Dntknw: but all in all u got done for speeding you shouldnt have been speeding so take it on the chin son and dont bitch about it....you were doing the wrong thing:bye:

Hi,

As for the tree... I think Subaru safety engineers deserved a medal for that one.

Hi,

And I fully maintain that you will not slow down until you get slowed down. Noone knows where the edge is until they go over it.

You cannot legislate against stupidity.

Hi,

The bag (only driver side in a 97 JDM) - broke my nose. It was the only injury I sustained as a result of the crash.

Re: Speeding Fines :@

Hi,

Paraplegic? I would think it is the only thing that saved me massive head injuries. I got out of the car and had to run 13k to the nearest township.

The reason I even mention this is because NOTHING else could slow me down. I was a typical P-plate driver - say all the right things, but do the opposite. I pushed, and pushed, and pushed and in the end I put one of the nicest Foresters in Oz (at the time) into a tree.

That slowed me down.

You CANNOT teach that. You can't spend an extra twelve million dollars on an ad campaign and teach other people that. It's like increasing the price of RTD drinks............................... don't start me!

We all have to find out the hard way.

Cheers,
Nik

Re: Speeding Fines :@

I guess it serves me right for sleeping in and being half an hour late for work.... But that being said, 9 k's over the limit? Arghhh, should have been paying more attention.

Actually the worst thing about it now I think, constant annoyance from my parents.

"rah rah rah speeding fine blah blah blah speeding fine"

Biggest hypocrites, acting as if they've never had speeding fines :@.

Also on Nik's near death experience with hitting a tree.

Yes you are right, no one learns until they've reached their limits... Mine happened to be a keep left sign island.... luckily the keep left sign wasn't there. I guess another person under-estimating that particular corner?

My result, bit of a fright, huge bump and one of my hubcaps went flying off hit the gutter on the other side of the road and flew higher into the air than I thought possible... Landing in some persons backyard lol.

Lesson learned I guess. I've been a tame driver ever since.

Yes but my very first car was a worked V8 and ive never lost my license. have gone close in points though, but that was in the first year of said license holding.

I feel im mature enough now to safely own a quick car. I was not before though.

All i can say is you a very very lucky man Nik. Glad your still with us.

Re: Speeding Fines :@

I was a passenger in a bad accident when i was 15. My brother took me up Mt Nebo in his old Falcon and slid off the road at about 85 kmh. We went sideways into 3 trees and ended up down an embankment at least 300m from the road. I was unconscious so my brother had to walk back up the road to flag someone down. I got carried up the hill and taken to hospital, I broke my arm and cracked 2 ribs. Had I not had that smash I would have driven like a dick head I can guarantee it, but because of I will not. I completely agree with an accident being the only thing that will slow some people down, perhaps it should included in a driving test? haha
