5 posts isnt much at all.. and it doesnt mean spam the 5 posts so you can answer questions..

lots of forums have this, and it works well...
you take the time to learn, and search, and post q's in threads that already exist... then you may post a thread Q....... im still a newbie around here too dont get me wrong, posting threads is good, but not for a first post!


it can also be limited by time...

Eg:
You cant post a thread in the first 24hours of registration (but this would suck if you really need something urgent as a new member)...

yea i agree that something needs to be done about the spamming, it seems to be getting worse.. i dont think a time limit is a good idea as people may need urgent help, however a 5 post before thread starting good be a good idea.. it would stop people posting the same 'how do i get more power from my N/A' question over and over:)

We actually have half of the infrastructure in place at present. You might note that you are members of the 'Trusted User' Group. When first signing up you belong to the 'Registered User' Group. Members of the 'Registered User' group will not be able to publish any html or pics. After 5 legit posts users are promoted to the 'Trusted User' group.

Good suggestion, we are pretty much already there but have some further projects that needed implementing.

I agree with the last post.  From someone who works in network security, it's just a waiting gam;  if you desgn a tighter security system, then a smarter bot will be built and on it goes.

My preference would be for "registered users" to only be able to start one introduction thread and then have a 5 post limit before starting a new thread.

On another note, a FAQ would be really good.  Like Dr Harika or someone said, I'm sick of Noobs coming on here going.

"Hey man I've just bought my genII liberty and I reckon it's teh best.  I want to put veilside kit on it, a Gen3 bonnet scoop, a pod and a straight thogh 3" zorst system witha 6" cannon, with some fully sick chromies and cut the springs to lower it and add an STI strut brace and some fluffy dice my cousin just gave me, oh and bolt in a 13B rotary as they are fully sick Uleh, it would beat any GTR eva.......I also wanna put in a mazzive set of sub woofers and amps for like $100........ where do I start,  Please someone tell me what to do as I'm a caffeine wired 17yo who can't think for himself."  you get the idea.  PS that's an extreme example but for those who post both here and on RSLC they'll know the noobs that I'm referencing.

Maybe put another lock on their thread creation until they're read FAQ section that contains some starting point articles.  Suggested articles would be along the lines of:
- NA modding article (Kosti's one is perfect for this)
- Forged Buildup article (Kosti's one is perfect for this)
- Suspension article (I'd be happy to put together a draft on the basics and have someone check over this and add some detail on coilover type setups)
- Turbo modding article (something along the lines of MarkMcRS's "Path to Performance" article on RSLC but a seperate article Gen2/Gen3TT and Gen4T as there are subtle differences).  HiRisk/Billsy/Mickey would be good at this, with Sub4ru and B42.2 writing an article on how to perform an Insane power bottom end buildups.
- EJ20TT to E20T conversion article (B42.2?)
- Paintwork article (soupie maybe?)
- ICE article (KOSTI maybe?)

Those 7 articles should be able to cover most of the Questions that noobs post and should give them a great starting point for information.

If we go through and write the articles and they don't read them first and put up stupid threads like above then they should just stright up be banned HARD.
