So I'm writing a Resume...

  Top of Page

...for the first time in Seven Years.

Man. What a spin out.

talk about rusty! Since I've last done one (for a crummy job whilst at uni), I've got a degree, and worked in many more specialised areas.

So, I need some pointers. Hopefully, this would be my ticket to a sales related job. Sad thing is, that I have little to no sales experience.

Does buying and selling stuff on forums count?

ha!

Generalise..

Just put some goals in it you'll be sweet..  having a degree helps in business no matter what degree..

Funnily enough, Google Images!  http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl= … e&cd=1

keep it simple and well laid out. Verdana text works well. Keep the design clean and dont overstate your 6th grade swimming achivements. Depending on what job you are actually going for tailor your CV to suit. Dont make it any more than 2 A4 pages (yaaawwwnnnn....). If you are just making a general one then start with what you can think of and then show it to family and friends and ask them to suggest what they think is important to get a tight edit.
First thing I'd mention if I were you is your bad ass wheels!

Dont forget, employers dont want to know EVERYTHING about you. Sell yourself in relation to what experience and education you have for the position that you are going for.

Why dont you just pay someone to do it for you? Cost you maybe $60-$100('ish) and they'll do an awesome one for you. They know exactly what employee's want to hear and exactly how to lay out all the good stuff.

Check ur local phone book or ad's in newspapers and you'll find someone pretty easily. Bit of an investment but if it wow's the employer and gets you the job, its worth it.

CV's should be high level, 1-2 page max when sending them out.

When you win an interview you then can supply them with a more detailed version.

Focus on goals and any achievements which doesn't need to relate to work. It could like an achievement of giving up smoking as one example.

:brunette:

As an alternative - u could check out google as it has hapes of examples

my CV  got me a job at crown casino, my mum a job at 000 [ emergency - triple oh ], a friend a job at a dentist and another a job at IGA.. [ with different content for each person, obviously ].

it's laid out really well, and has a brief intro about each past place of employment.

Re: So I'm writing a Resume...

At the moment, I work in Operating Theatres, as an Instrument Nurse. My role is wide and varied, and I do many different types of surgery.

Yes. I see blood and guts every day.

So there's a mountain of information that's needed to learn to work in that role.

The Job I'll be wanting to cross over to is, as soupy has stated, is Sales Rep'ing. I need to snag me a huge Company that sells shed loads of medical or surgical equipment, and I'll need to get in.

The one I'll be applying for first, is a job with Olympus. Selling Surgical Camera Equipment for keyhole surgery. Its a wide known fact among all hospitals that Olympus has the industry standard with this sort of equipment, so this s**t literally sells itself.

There's a rep at work at the moment, doing this very job. He's given me the heads up about this job, and has even graciously given me until sunday to apply for this job via email, even though this position has closed a week ago.

Even if I don't get this job, I'll have a polished CV/Resume I can throw at numerous companies, and see how many bites I can get.
