by XoN on 02-05-07 11:18 AM Yeah I find it a bit odd that we have such a tight-as$ed swear filter, but no realy way to stop spam bots from posting porn all night long...

by bojo on 02-05-07 11:38 AM I agree, maybe the "type the character you see below" thing might help.

The site actually does have a screening question in the registration process but no sooner does it get programmed and there is a script to work around it. Half of the anti spam software is installed, thus the move of your user groups about a month ago. To implement the final stages we will be taking it off the air for a night for testing. It will then screen every post from new users with less than 5 posts or younger than 60 days. If it detects hyperlinks or images the thread / post goes into the moderation que to be manually approved. |

This sounds like a great system to me. Not for the mods... but for us poor users :clapping: |

does this mean for the genuine users that post in threads and decide to put in a link that it won't be posted up straight away? if so how long before the link was put in or even the entire post? must say that it sounds very good tho. |

by FOZ13 on 05-11-07 04:26 PM They are always ahead man. No sooner than we change our CAPTCHA plugin do they find a way to hack around it. New measures for the new site but the problem will always be present in some form. |

by befour on 05-11-07 04:44 PM its just soooo annoying, why do they do this other then for annoyance factor.. do they really think people will look at their spam and say "Oh Gee this looks legit and I think Ill buy something from them" I hope the people responsible for creating them all burn! |
