by fatcat67 on 12-05-08 04:10 PM Other than the Perrin, APS, AVO, who makes a reasonably priced silicon intake, that is any good?

by JET on 12-05-08 05:16 PM I got my perrin one all the way from turbo to airbox for $400. Avo is like 550 or something. Prospeedracing.com.au sell one for $270, not sure of the quality. And it's about 60-70 more for the short tube that goes to airbox so it works out to be around 350.

I had heard of the cave in but thought it was at higher boost levels. Eg: 25psi+ Hell that is expensive. AVO have one at US$299 ATM, but it's only on their US site, really f##ken stupid considering they're made here. I might check Prospeed racing. Is that Troy? |

Yea that's correct I'm suprised at the price of silicone items in general, I was looking for a 2" 90deg elbow and some places were asking $70-80, ended up buying from turbo xs for $45 including two T clamps. |

by JET on 12-05-08 05:44 PM Will be part of a bigger upgrade, it's not even on the car yet. Seems to be a pretty popular mod these days, faster spool and more peak power (like 5kw I was told) is to be made.

Thanks:blush: Bloody cheap, only thing I'm unsure of is whether it fits the 05 2.5t. Do you have one of these Michael? |

by alexxx on 12-05-08 09:15 PM make sure you get this tuned when you add it on, as i've heard these cause compressor surge and overboosting. |

Thanks for that link. They have great prices. Do you know if they are 3, 4, or 5 ply silicon? I'd love your feedback on the quality. It's just that that looks too good to be true, so I'm a little wary of the quality and wonder if the cheaper versions may collapse under pressure. |

by d_generate on 13-05-08 12:42 PM From memory they are 4 ply, I've shown it to Steve at MMS who builds Dean Herridges rally car & many more(third at this years Targa Tasmania) & the guy from MRT when he was over here (not Brett) who does all their rally development work, can't remember his name & they both said it was excellent for the price & as good as the other Non homoligated ones, induction sounds great too. I think that's about as good a feedback as you can get. |

by d_generate on 13-05-08 07:02 PM Really hard to say as I fixed 4 different boost leaks at the time, my std BOV goes FHSSS again LOL, every hose on my top mount was leaking but the car feels a hell of a lot quicker, feels like it would pull a high 12 now but they are supposed to be good for up to 15kw & def less restrictive. |

by djb on 17-05-08 07:18 PM do you think it's possible to butcher one of those you've pictured and add a second arm to go the primary on a TT setup?

by d_generate on 17-05-08 07:49 PM Not that expensive so you could always give it a try, I've never seen what a TT one looks like. |

by d_generate on 18-05-08 01:16 AM GOOD GREIF!!!! That's farking HUGE, you'd need a parts bin sitting in front of you to get all those bends, I think a single turbo conversion would be cheaper & easier. |

Ha Haaa, very funny DGEN. I've seen 2 threads on getting one of theses built in silicon for TTs and they've all fallen in a heap. I've got a spare that I'm willing to donate to the cause and drive it along, if someone can get me some details of a company that designs/makes this stuff. Cheers Darryl |
