Shift Workers......

  Top of Page

Im back on afternoon shift. LOVE IT!!

Surfed in the morning early, then home with the wife and kids for most of the day.

More time to do things around the house and on the car etc.

Afternoon shift is always cruisy and theres no bosses around or engineers giving you extra work.

PLUS you get shift loading! big_smile

Less work + more money = WIN

Any other shift workers? Whats your preference?

Another shift worker here.

Morning shift starts usually at 8am. Its p00. Traffic is horrendous, parking is a biyarch, and the bosses are usually anal freaks that need a couple of 9mm aspirins for their headaches.

Afternoon shift is so much better. Starts at midday, a seperate carpark is opened then to cater for afternoon staff, traffic is non existant, only have to tolerate the bosses for about four or less hours, and basically left to work in my specialty on my own, which is fantastic.

ATM, I work a scattered random mix of morning and afternoon shifts every week.

Will be doing nights as of Valentine's day. Never done nights at this hospital before, we'll see how it goes. Roster looks orrrright at the moment. Five days on, four days off big_smile

my first ever job was 3:30 till midnight, did that for 6 years. now i work a 12 hour rotating roster, 2 12 hour days followed by 2 12 hour nights then four days off. one of which u spend sleeping but at least your at home with the kids.
can't say i ever worked constant days for any real length of time but when i did you really feel part of the norm. can't imagine how norm people get sh!t done when you work same hours as banks and stuff.
we're gonna suffa for all this shift work when we're older though just watch.
wouldn't have it any other way though just the same.
insomnia is my friend :jester:

I normally do a bit of nights 1500-0130

And a bit of mornings 0500-1530

I don't think i could go back to nine to five, I hate the weekend rush anyway! big_smile

Re: Shift Workers......

I work thursday through monday 5-5 most days... on a lucky day escape at 4, even luckier days escape at 3 big_smile. Depends what other staff I have on, and whether or not the 1IC is there on that particular day.

But yeah, today's the first day of my weekend.... wtf's the point of a middle of the week weekend? lol.

God it sucks being young and having to do what the older people don't want to do.

+1 !!!

One of my mates has an anoying (and accidental) habit of calling me when I have had ~ 3-5hrs sleep after a graveyard... I have pulled 3 20+hr days sofar this rotation due to "untimely" calls *eyes falling out of head* I dont have bags under my eyes, I have suitcases.

Hahahahahaha. I like working for a big company, plenty of safeguards and plenty of cough, cough, sick days big_smile

Plus long service (3 months)

Last two nights of arvo shift have been dead quiet, almost clocked "Worms Armageddon" death match mode lol tonight perhaps big_smile
