Shell to phase out Shell V-Power Racing

  Top of Page

Hi

I thought you’d be interested to know that from the end of July ‘08, Shell will start to phase out its Shell V-Power Racing fuel in Australia.

The Shell V-Power Racing phase out from Coles Express sites in QLD, VIC, NSW & ACT will take around 6 months and will be finished at the end of the year.

Be assured that Shell V-Power, a 98 octane fuel, which has been developed with Ferrari, will be Shell’s performance fuel and continues to be available at Coles Express sites in QLD, VIC, SA, NSW & ACT.

Changing needs of motorists and their vehicles has played a big part in Shell’s decision. Shell is currently increasing the availability of Shell Unleaded E10 at Shell branded sites to make it easier for motorists to access the ethanol blended fuel.

If anyone wants to find out more info on the phase out of Shell V-Power Racing you can visit www.shell.com.au  or call 13 16 18 for tech or general enquiries.

Otherwise, shout out as I’m  a Shell representative so I’m well placed to answer any queries.

Cheers Adam

IMO the V power racing was priced too high for only a 2 ron higher rating over v power.

Welcome to Ozlib.
How ever evil you may be.....
Vp-R wasn't really very accessible i don't think anyway. I've never seen a bowser containing it on the whole north coast of NSW.

Are there plans for any more performance fuels in the long term?

Maybe only 2 ron, But what else was in it.
Its like 95 - 98. BP 98 contains other additives that allow it to burn better (apparently.)
I've noticed that after using BP98 for a few weeks the car responds better.
Were as if i use 95 for a long period, it gets some what lethargic (more so even. )

The web site says VPR will be phased out at Milton as of July 28.  It hasn't been available at Milton for MONTHS!  I've had to drive to Sherwood.

Looks like I'll be retuning the ECU for BP Ultimate now.

Good riddance Shell.  I always felt dirty putting that **** in my tank anyway.

What is this, a shell spam bot?

Didn't V-Power Racing have ethanol in it? And don't subaru aus recommend not using ethanol fuels in their turbo motors?

My understanding is the b4 and similar vintage Sti rexs cant use ethanol but virtually everything else can, although they don't sound keen on the idea:lol:

No problems as a result? Im interested in ethanol cause its the only 98 available in my town (United servo) but im quite cautious on the concept. Used their ethanol 95 in my old gen2 ej22 and it seemed ok:russian_r but yeah bit of feedback re gen3 would be good:Dance:

I say................... MEH!, Never seen it at a bowser anyway. I can't use it in my B4 so if it goes I really couldn't care.

Hi Soop

Shell has no plans to replace Shell V-Power Racing with a new performance fuel.

Shell V-Power will be Shell’s premium performance fuel brand.

Cheers

Subaru only say not use to E10 or more ethanol fuel in there cars.

This is only E5. And I have been using it for months. No dramas what soever.

I will miss it!

Oh well, back to Ultimate (when I can no longer get it)

I have never even seen a bowser pump with vpr written on it. I still use 98 though, so the engine doesnt ping under hard applications of the loud pedal.

Subaru also say no E5 for many of their cars dude, I have a list of vehicles here somewhere from Subaru stating what can and what can't us it from when we had to go through our database and put what vehicles could use what ethanol blends and what could not use any at all.
