Proud Lib My03 B4 Owner

  Top of Page

Firstly, Just Want To Say Hi To All Proud Liberty (esp. B4) Owners. I Have Upgraded From My00 Wrx And The Choice Couldn't Have Been Any Better. Bit Of A Disapointment In The Auto Lag But Once  The Second Turbo Kicks, Very Impressive!!!

Secondly, I Dont Know If Anyone Has Come Accross This Problem Before But I Had Recently Had My Injectors Changes (pricey Might I Add And Had To Get Genuine), Picked Up Car And On Way Home, Lost A Bit Of Power And Now There Is A Clunking Metallic Sound Comming Fromt He Engine. Not Sure If Its Top Or Bottom Half. Had A Compression Test Done And Have Found That Cylinder 3 Has Lost Compression.

Any Ideas Guys???

Clunkinig to me would sound like a big end bearing, but a loss of compression on cylinder 3.

Ahaha, how much boost has it been running?

I'd be guessing it's been ran hard, and leaned out on cylinder3 and popped a piston ring.  Time for the engine to come out me thinks.  Hope you got warranty with it, as you're looking at ~2K for a rebuild.

Oh snap... yet another big end destroyed.

Hope you'll be able to afford a new short motor.

Should have stuck with the WRX? :Derisive:

Welcome to the forum.
You may want to ask some locals who they recommend for service/rebuild work.
I think there is some info in the VIC/Melbourne area of the forum.
I doubt your injectors would have been stuffed, perhaps a clean would have done the trick. I could of course be wrong.

Rebuild is the best option IMO.
Essentially start off with a brand new motor. It is costly though.
