Power Play at Wakefield Park

  Top of Page

Did anyone one go to power play in wakefield today??? i was there and it was bloody freeeeezing.

i got to see the R35 skyline on the track and the car is sooo hott and a Freakn Machine!! quickest time was a 1.08 around the track. also three of MRTs current shape WRX STI's were there and did a couple of laps and headed back. unfortunately they were the only subarus there today which was dissapointing. i went for a couple of laps (passenengering) in an EVO 9 with an XB kit which did a lap time of 1.09 around wakefield .. i have some photos that i took with my phone but they are really crap quality and i dont know how to upload pics.lol Zoom magazine and high performance imports were there and took alot of photos.

thought id share this with you guys,

cheers

I've heard that Haltec GTR was having tune problems before this event.
Do you know if it is now sorted? Was it going strong.
Apparently a couple weeks ago at Oran Park it only managed an 11.4 quarter mile, and people are getting that out of GTR's with a tad more boost and fuel.
It seems the new ECU's are  a mongrel to get around.

yes they were saying it was having tune problems prior to the event but had it sorted. the thing was quick around the track but could tell they weren't pushing it to its limits.. and people were saying that it still had its speed limiter so they couldnt push it past 180 kph..

ahh damn, perhaps it wasnt mapped in as a designated track area for the vehicles sat nav system to dis-engage the speed limiter, because the speed limiter on them is controlled by GPS big_smile so it knows (Supposedly) when it is on a race track.

i imagine the whole "every engine is unique and hand made" would be difficult to work with too...

Pretty sure that only applies in Japan mate.

The Haltech GTR ran an 11.1 a couple of months back also. First run at the strip, apparently. Must be insanely fast off the line to make an 11.1, at just 124mph...

GTRBlog was down at the Mackenzie’s Motor Trimming Compak Attak out at Western Sydney International Dragway (WSID) at Eastern Creek today to see the Haltech Nissan R35 GT-R run. In their first run of the morning at 9.30am on a cold track into a headwind they ran an 11.1 @ 124mph using the GT-R’s launch control system. Their second run saw the launch control system disarm itself prior to the start but they still ran an 11.5 @ 125.9mph. Their third and final run saw similar issues and they managed an 11.8 @ 126mph. It must be said that this is Halltech’s first run down the strip in the new GT-R so the launch control routine is still not 100% familiar to all their drivers.
GTRBlog spoke with Haltech on their development progress with the new GT-R and after not much more than a week in the workshop they had already cracked the ECU and prototyped their own full computer for engine management. Right now the Haltech Platinum ECU is running ignition, timing and fuel maps for the GT-R while the standard ECU is still in place for ABS, ATTESSA, accessories and so forth.
While developing and tuning the ECU on the dyno Haltech had tried replacing various sections of the exhaust including the center muffler section including the secondary cats as well as the rear muffler section but saw very little in the way of worthwhile gains. They have since put the exhaust back to standard.
Cheers,
Nik

Hi Nik,

yeah that was my point... this would have been a JDM model GTR so as far as it is concerned it is on public roads and will limit the speed.

People were saying that Haltech were testing blow off valves on the day. the GTR was fitted with two and the thing sounded so hott..

They only launched it once off the take off and just the way it grips and gets up and goes was unbeleivable...

MRT were testing there kits for the new STI and got an extra 40kw out of 1 and the thing just sounded so good and performed really well.. very impressive. im pretty sure the STI did a 1.10 whereas the GTR was doing 1.08

Thanks Nik, that is good information. I'll have to find that Blog page.
My tuner did mention something along those lines with respect to what the Haltec could control, and yes he said the traction control was off and that was what attributed to the 11.4 but terminal speed was the same.
Still awesome in anyones language.
