Photos with number plates

Thoughts,
When posting pictures of other peoples cars.
Should the person posting the pics hide/cover/blur the plates?

I think if you found the picture on the internet, then post it as is...

If YOU took the photo of someone else's car - then cover 'em up...unless your posting a picture and laughing at their ghey numberplates...

^^ too what he agreed to and too what Alex said, I think it's kinda respecting ones privacy to cover up there plates, 'It's ok for them to let lose with their own plates' but 'reposting pics, you should just stay neutral and cover them up as not to offend anyone' again its just respecting privacy.

I don't know if it really matters that much, the number plates can be seen in public anyway by anyone whenever you drive the car, can't blur them out on the road.. that would be illegal

Being seen on public roads and being broadcast across the entire internet are two very different things though...

they are two entirely different things but that doesnt neccesarily mean that it could be treated differently..what does it really matter if they are shown over the net?

There are people in the world that troll forums looking for cars to steal, so by monitoring peoples post and finding out peoples number plates, they can easily find were you live and jack ur car.

Simple really - unless you have specific authorisation from the car owner then it's wise to blur. :girl_devi

My mate pointed it out to me and the gist is that the RTA and s**t are gonig on to forums and checking out for "illegal mods" etc and cancelling rego and crap if my memory serves me right

Re: Photos with number plates

I wouldnt think they could just cancel your rego based upon what they read on a forum. there is nothing stopping me from posting a pic of some random car, claiming it as mine and listing mods that dont exist to get someone else's car defected. there would have to be an inspection by someone before a defect notice could put on the vehicle.

Re: Photos with number plates

i think blurring out the number plates is the way to go ..
on saying this i was way too lasy when posting my car on here but it does give you a little more piece of mind knowing your car is a little harder to track down especially after most people on this website are really into their cars and can appriciate the time, money and effort put into everyones car but you never know with things like the net and you never know what crackheads are veiwing the website on guest and sussing out which cars in their local area to steal full of aftermarket goodies..
i dunno maybe its a little bit paranoid but im sure im not alone.

got Nang?

I agree with Nang?, I thought it was quite obvious why to blank out ones number plates?, and if you don't care yea don't worry about it but yea to be safe blur out whoevers car you are putting on the net as to be polite.

Re: Photos with number plates

usually i dont bother covering up my own plates.. i dont really see much point..

when posting up pics i got of ppls cars from cruises, i dont usually blank them out.. the boys over at rx8club.com requested that when i do so, i cover up all their plates.. so i did.. but usually i dont bother doing so.. havent had anyone ask me to do so, or ask me to change it.. so i just keep going that way..

-edit-
and plus, im sure they could easily spot my plates from looking in my profile, or my sig, or username (as some ppl have their plates as their username on many forums, such as NS or BoostCruising, etc).. they could look in links in my sig, on my car profile page on here or Boost, etc etc.. So unless i covered up from the start, there are lots of places id have to find to change that back (web galleries, posts on forums, etc)..
