Far out MAN....Its hard to get people from Sydeny to meet once a month @ hooters, let alone the whole of Australia to meet at one place for a weekend...

What you and most of the noobs got to understand that Most of the regular members that post on here are IE: married, morgage, loans, Under the thumb like Brendan etc.

It just as hard as orginiseing a cruise....

I don't think it was terribly hard for a lot of the RSLC crew to get together for their national meet at Wollongong in February, but then again, they're motorsport/performance enthusiasts, as opposed to a lot of members here. :Derisive:

Gtrydaz has begun planning for their annual meet in 09. It will be held over the easter weekend in april. This time it is hosted by South Australia. If their is enough interest i am sure it could be a combined meet.

Events planned are dyno, show and shine and Hill Climb event.

Interested  post here

Nath, I think there would be a few guys shying away from the idea of a joint GTRydaz/OZLiberty meet. The GTRydaz have had a few national meetups so are kind of aware of the things that go into it, as compared to alot of the members on here who haven't. I was at the last RSLC national meet and had a blast. I believe you would have more interest in just having a Liberty meet rather than the Fozie/Liberty meet.

At the end of the day, I guess it depends on how everyone is on here. I for one would definately try and make it to one of these meets as long as there was PLENTY of time for preparation.  If someone was prepared to put in the time and effort and actually organise a NATIONAL meet somewhere that was voted by the members on here as to where that location would be, then I am all for it.  Not everyone will be able to make it as we don't live in a perfect world. But it would be interesting to see just who would go to the effort of not only organising a meet, but also attend it too.

Just my 2c.

Well said Jarrod.

I too share Jarrod's sentiments, and I don't see a combined DAMG Pty Ltd National Meet being very popular.

Also, as Jovan has already rightfully mentioned, we have a great number of slackarses who can't even make it for a local meet, let alone a national one.

Unfortunately, this is a really niche end of the Subaru range, and most people that drive liberty's are generally older and well established people with bigger commitments, or pod weilding, caliper painting n00b gunnabois who fill up their petrol tanks at $20 a pop coz mummy's still giving them teh p0cketmoneyz.

I went along to the GT Rydaz Easter event last year. It was AWESOME! One of the best, most enjoyable days of my life ever, even if I was the only one in a Lib, an NA Lib, which got easily beaten on the Calder Park track. Dicknose was pretty cool/funny too.

Well said Jovan and oh so true.

I find it difficult with rotating work shifts, a wife and kids to be able to get to most meets.........

but i will.

A lot of notice is the key to get people there.

Short answer, yes. The long answer is below Nath.

Your Fozie boys are organising a Fozie event; not a Fozie/Lib event.  It would be far better off for this community to do their own thing rather than have a joint meet.  That way we can learn from our own mistakes and everyone on here feels more a part of the planning and preparation. We will take ownership of something that we ourselves have organised instead of something that has been given to us on a plate.

I think what the other people are trying to say here Nathan, is that the interest could be a lot stronger on these smaller gatherings; ie cruises, bbq, dinners, go-karting etc etc.  If we as a community all got together, organised a National Meet with planned events that ran for a couple of days rather than a couple of hours, then we would see a far greater audience at this as compared to the smaller meetings.

So here I put it to EVERYONE out here in OzLib. We need somewhere to host this meet for a couple of days, with enough activities (cruises, go-karts, dyno, dragstrip day, bbqs) to keep everyone occupied. There needs to be sufficient accomodation for everyone as well as all the other important and valuable resources such as ATMs and the Bottlo.

There needs to be a majority vote as to a location for it to take place in. Once we have established this establishment, we can then move forward in oganising a date followed by activities.

Re: Oz OzLib meet

why not put up a poll on this thread calling for OzLib members to vote for a preferred location.

I, for one, don't really know of anywhere that can accommodate so many cars/people/events. i would suggest bathurst, if only we could book out mount panorama. also, during uni holidays i think CSU in bathurst book out their dorms for people to stay in.

also, i understand that (most) people here (including myself) have jobs, families, mortgages and bills along with a myriad of other problems that could come between them and a weekend long get-away, but i think with some real (joint) effort this could be pulled off.

Only been to Bathurts once. Was at the end of May. I wore what typical Qlds do. T-shirt, boardies and a pair of thongs. I don't think I've ever been so cold in my life. My feet were hurting as I walked around.

Is there much to do there that would keep everyone occupied for a few days??? I know the police patrol that circuit all the time. Come on guys. Pull your fingers out and give us some feed back.

I could just say SE QLD. But I'd prefer it if other people came up with some ideas. Up to you's.

Morgan Park has a big camping area and is close to Warwick for motel/hotels.
Great race track, place for a dirt motorkahana, and it is fairly close to Willowbank for drags and other activities.
Can drive out to Moogerah dam for BBQ's and photo opportunities.

Re: Oz OzLib meet

You could have it at my house, theres 3 garages and a longgggggggg driveway. Jks jks, this is a great idea, i think the location of the meet needs to...

a) Have a race track close by.
b) A similarly sized patch of dirt to park in.
c)And most importantly, meets the needs of the OzLib forum members in favour of the demographic who has the most prominent interest in such an event, geographically speaking, eg, people from melborne are the majority of members most active on this site (purely suggested this for the sake of an example) and are the majority of people participating in the event, then the location of the meet up should most likely favour that group.

Or somone could start a thread with some helpfull links about various possible locations and take it from there. Ps, apologies for the throwaway comments up top, i hope this makes partial sense.

cj on liberty.asn was testing the waters with a national meet up too.  nothing has been decided there but I was thinking....

Canberra has go karts, national capital speedway in Queanbeyan, wakefield park in Goulburn, it's two hours from batemans bay and about two hours from the snow.

but I was looking forward to a road trip, so somewhere else would be more fun for me.

PS - don't get me to organise anything, the last thing i tried to organise, i had to cancel.

there's also a couple of driver education centres around where you can bring your own car.  don't know much about those though.

Morgan Park is booked out so much. Apparently it's nearly the top track in Aus. It's close for all Brizzy Boyz as I drive through/past Willowbank and Warwick up to the Granite Belt every 2 weeks and it's no trek. Add to the list of activities, Wine tasting and Italian Cuisine up in Stanthorpe, Queen Mary Falls, Cunninghams Gap. Perhaps a good State Cruise Idea?? wink

All Oz meet sounds electric, I really want an excuse to drive down to Melbourne/Sydney for a weekend. I think it's going to be hard guys.

As Teddy Roosevelt once said, "Build it and they will come".
I think if one was to be held it should be more central to everyone for at least the first event to ensure maximum possible turn out.
Canberra for example, or Sydney.

Yep, I agree Frank. No point holding it up in Cape York. I know the RSLC is holding their own in Canberra next year.  So we could look at Sydney again. They have the go-karts, race tracks, cruises etc etc.

i'm liking canberra if there are lots of victoria users, it's closer to them than sydney.

though sydney is sort of in the middle of qld and vic...

wouldn't sydney make more sense for anyone on the east coast...??

or we could all head into the middle of australia and find some salt flats... (does australia even have any...??)

come on ozlib... we need ideas...
