Outback GT/XT (well sort of a liberty)

  Top of Page

A few people have mentioned they want to know more about one of my obsessions.

So here it is:

MY99 Outback was SOHC EJ25 now ...

EJ255 with:
MY00 WRX manifold, throttle body and injectors
92 RS Liberty WAIC
MY99 STI radiator
Custom made Bilstein Shocks
Braided brake lines and a MRT master cylinder support bracket
MY04 Liberty GT brakes front and rear
MY99 Forester GT airbox and intake duct
Haltech E8 ecu also running the AVCS also with a boost trim knob set up to 14psi
Walbro fuel pump
WRX 17” rims with 225/55R17 (just fit a couple of rubs here and there)  The wrx offset is not ideal but they work for the moment)

The STI Rad. I had from a while back with a radiator problem and I always new I was going to do something more with the engine and I was able to get a cheap one so I upgraded.

The Bilsteins I made when I worked at Bilstein.

The engine bolted straight to my gearbox with a exedy HD outback clutch, the WAIC from the RS bolted up using 2 of the 3 factory brackets, the engine uses a 97 WRX crossmember and so I had to use a 97 WRX sway bar.

The manifold was a bit difficult to make fit, I had to turn the injectors around 180 degrees to clear the AVCS solenoids, also had to modify the fuel rail to clear the AVCS position sensor.

I used a std 98 WRX bosch BOV, (cheap and brand new from repco) and set it up to plumb back.

The whole job was done in my workshop (aka driveway) took way too long (12 weeks off the road) but I had dramas with parts not arriving.  I had a deadline of our second baby arriving (very patient wife).  I did it all myself with some very helpful advice from a mate.  The only things I went out to get done was welded up a bodgy temporary exhaust connection, regassing the A/C, getting subaru to solve an airbag warning light problem and tuning.

General pics here http://s93.photobucket.com/albums/l51/T … 2/Outback/

Hope the read isn't too boring.

If there are any specific questions just ask.

And yes its a blast when you take off, I love stealth!!

Also I just became a legitimate Liberty Owner, Black MY05 3.0RB Wagon (42,000km), for the MRS to drive courtesy from work! I love lease vehicles!  Anybody know of anyone with a twin turbo 3.0?? Well I have 3 years (lease) to find one and get the bits! lol

Great idea! It'll be a great stealth machine.
