hey i have the opportunity to get into a 01 wrx with low ks. only mod apparently is a vf 34 turbo.
what i wanted to know is if  this a good starting point for some descent power and some good 1/4 mile times as i have no idea about the capabilities of a set up with a vf 34 in a wrx

Should be ok. Vf34 is a good street turbo. I had a vf30 in my wrx which is the non ball bearing version and i saw 175kw atw with exhaust, tmic and pfc. No reason why you won't be able to run good times with it.
