Oil Leak 2000 Liberty Heritage PLZ HELP

  Top of Page

Morning all,

I have a slight problem with my 2000 Lib heritage. I noticed a slight burning oil smell the other day and once I got home, had smoke coming from under the bonnet. Upon closer inspection there is a small oil leak dripping directly down onto the exhaust beneath the sump, but I can't seem to place where it's coming from. Any ideas? Just did an oil change but was there before that. Possibly a sump pan gasket? if so, hard to replace? I need this fixed asap, due to leaving on a bit of a roadtrip in a week, so any help would be greatly appreciated

most likely coming from the cam cover gaskets.
not a hard job to do, just fiddly and time consuming

Jack it up and have a look under there. Mine does the same thing, although mines the steering rack, leaks out of both ends. Painful and expensive to fix.

Cheers,
Ben
