ohh the pain!!

  Top of Page

I've owned my car for 3 months, it's about to go in for it's 5k service, and I managed to get it scratched badly by some dumba$$ ute driver queue jumping by coming down the wrong side of the road and cutting in at the same time that I pulled across! Arrgghh!

Any other noobs done a nooda$$ thing and had their car in a panel beaters before it even made it to the service garage?

Dunno. The "post incident discussions" were not friendly. He reckons it was my fault cos I pulled out and I reckon it was his fault cos he was driving down the wrong side of the road so after a quick shout at each other we swapped licence details etc and f'd off. I reckon the insurance companies will just shrug and blame both of us 50%! Easiest path to take with no witnesses.

I have not had this problem. although my sister crashed her Proton Satria XLI 3 weeks after buying the car in sydney, then it spent 6 weeks off the road. was not a good sight. Main problem was having to wait for Proton to ship the meshes for the front bar, that took the longest.

Luckily the Sube's insured in the wife's name with a perfect driving record and protected no claims status!!! Small excess and no other financial hurt! Oh, and with my skills it would end up way worse if I tried to fix it!!

PS: I apologise for the behaviour of my user name!:Pardon:

Not a noob thing as such, but I got a new company car last july.  Just 2 days old an some druggo scum throws a rock through the left rear door glass (the bigger one that goes up & down) while I was driving it.  Cops were chasing him on foot (they witnessed it) but he got away.  They knew his face so they waited for him to return home.....

That was $165.....and an afternoon with the vacuum cleaner.

The cops were really good about it.  They basically told me I could have him charged with malicious/willful damage to property, and he would cop a fine, or I could broker a deal where he paid for the damage & lost time, and no charges would be laid.  I told the cop for the value of the glass, I'd rather pay it out of my own pocket and see the charges laid - and give him time to think about what he's done.

Then when it was 4 weeks old (3500km on it) a clown went through a stop sign in a rodeo because he "was tired from working all day and couldn't be bothered stopping & looking" - his own words.  Wiped the front off the car to the tune of $4500.

That's not the only one.....the car prior to that had a "new Australian" change lanes without looking.  Cops booked her and she still insisted on trying to blame me...... That was $7500 and took 4 weeks.

And this year, new job, new company car, and a P-plater licenced for less than 8 weeks ran a red light, wiped out the car & wiped me out for 6 weeks too.  No chance of repairs - they stopped at $22,000 before they even looked underneath!

I'm jinxed when it comes to company cars - that's 3 in 3 years (although none were my fault).  The law of averages isn't on my side though - I do around 5-6000km a month, and I see lots of stupid things on the road.
