Not having a good week....

  Top of Page

it all started on Halloween, had a great day at work, but when i was driving home my ride was egged.....

I pulled over, caught one of them, he wont egg anyone else again for a while.

Washed the egg off as soon as i got home, only to find in the morning the egg hit my door, and the fragments of eggshell scratched the paint in a perfect egg shape.

THEN this morning i woke up to my father had just rear ended my car on our driveway (in his landcruiser). He was in 1st to stop rolling down and let the clutch out accidentally.

RAHHHHHHH

i need a hug

Bugger the insurance, I've got a perfect garnish for $220 & a heat gun should take the ding in the bumper out.

care to explain the heat gun theory?

is it a liberty or legacy garnish, and do they come off/on easily?

It's a Liberty garnish, the Legacy won't fit as they are a totally different boot, lift the boot & there are about 8 small bolts & the wiring plug then it's off.
Remove the bumper & heat it from behind, get something a similar shape to what you need (rag on the end of a piece of wood/screwdriver) then push the bumper into shape & hold till it cools.
You could take your fuel filler flap off & get a can of spray computer matched then rub back the area where the paint is cracked, spray a bit of plastic primer then top coat, really depends on how fussy you are.....I'm not, but you may be.

Yeah mate it's been sitting there for a couple of years, the one that was on my car when it was hit from behind had a small chip & a couple of broken mounting bolts so I swapped it for the perfect one that was on my ex's car before she sold it, I've never bothered to advertise it but if it's going to stuff your or his insurance for the next few years it may be worth just getting the bumper repaired & buying the garnish.
Take the bumper off to save some cash too, from memory there are a couple of clips on the side & 4 bolts either in your boot or underneath.
