Why do people keep comparing the ordinary WRX to the Evo? They're not really that comparable... Ok, STi vs Evo yes... But this isn't the STi.

But I agree, hot hatches are just a bit too try hard, and try hard is something the WRX has never been. :russian_r

The general shape looks like the spy shots that have been getting around the internet for the past year or so.  But those cars were disguised so the front and rear end treatment wasn't visible.

So the shape looks like what I've seen before, but somehow it doesn't look like a real photo.  Something about the grill treatment just doesn't look right.  Well, I hope it doesn't look right, and if it does I hope it's not the design direction of the new Liberty due in '09.

As it looks in the pic, it's ugly.

The reasons for the changes are due to the WRC opting for hatches vs sedans... Mitsubishi will either change the Lancer to run a hatch version (Colt?)

I hope that still do a sedan version on top of the hatch ...

Doesn't sound likely mate.

I for one will never convert from a lib to the WRX now. Hopefully subaru don't start messing with the liberty!

i agree.. the STI looks better than the other photo but still it doesnt look right as a hatch.. i also will never consider a wrx over a legacy now..

Nah, my opinion is that they won't mess with the Liberty/Legacy platform. That will continue as is... however, the WRX will be made to fit the WRC regulations... smile

I wouldn't buy a WRX over a Liberty either ... even though I had a choice :victory:

i hate it... the last WRX looked soo agressive, now its a shopping trolly. the front is ugly and the back is even worse.

i realy hope the next Lib dosent get that front end treatment,  or its back to the falcadores for me when i buy  brand new.

I dunno...

Could 'possibly' live with the front of the STi.. but Im really really not a fan of the whole minnie-arse hatch thing going on..

Id have to see it in the flesh to make a propper judgement, but from the pics it doesnt look promising..

I just dont really get it?.. I mean, Subaru know that the WRX is a cult car, and they know who their buyers are and the demograhic they are selling to... so why are they ruining this cult car, by creating something which doesnt look tough, doesnt have the same street cred look, and looks like any other little nugget looking hatch out there??.. (very biased opinion, yes I know.. but I've always been a rex fan and dont particularly like where subaru is headed with this..)


Give me an MY00 or MY03-05 any day...
