New to the site

:bye: Hey everyone.  My name is Rhys, and I'm a 17yo car enthusiast (freak!!).  I'm looking for my first car, and at the moment i am looking at a Liberty, hence joining the site.  I have a fair knowledge about cars, including modifications, but as yet I have had very little experience working on them.  I dont have my licence yet :-( but hopefully soon.  Yeah, thats about it really.  The car i'm looking at is a white 97 Gen 2 GX Liberty. Manual, front wheel drive (not for long!!) non-turbo (not for long!!) and yeh.

Rhys

yeh, just like stock turbo is cheaper than transplanting an engine in.  Unfortunately with in situation i only have a choice of what is on the market at the moment. But still, doesnt bother me.  I'm starting my mechanics apprentiship next year, and so is my mate, so any chance to work on our cars is taken.  Plus it'd cut down on labour costs as well.

Hey mate, welcome to Ozliberty

i too am 17 and im half way through my 1st year in mechanics. and all i can say is if you have the motorvation and WANT to learn. then go for your life!!!

Its not going to be good unless you make the effort. i have seen many 1st years start at the place iam at..and they only last a few months due to their lack of concentration.

always remember that the 1st year is going to be pretty boring and the good ol' mop and bucket will soon be your friend. But try your best to get on the tools and ask lots of questions. Its the best way to learn:D

cheers
Lance

Cheers Lance.  Yeah, I agree with the working hard part.  Thankfully, the place where I'm getting my apprentiship is great for teaching you.  Its unbelievably clean as well!!  Yeah, I hate sitting on my arse, I have to get out there and work.  Hopefully this attitude keeps me going!  Thanks for the great welcome guys, I'll let you all know when I buy my car.

Hi welcome..

Keep looking and you'll find plenty of AWD cars, maybe even a clapped out RX (nice bodykit possibly even leather) I'd love to be looking again just spent too much on parts to ditch my wagon now labour ain't the half of it mate..  start with as good as you can get and build a strong as WRX engine for it..

BTW..  WAGONS RULE!!!

No they don't, if anything they will wear them less, as you don't have 2 tyres taking all the punishment.

Re: New to the site

Subaru were all FWD to begin with, it wasn't until the Gen3's that they became exclusively AWD.

Gen2 LX was FWD, GX was FWD - AWD, RX - AWD. And everything after Rx was AWD.

Im pretty sure the Brumby was 4x4 too. Which is different to AWD, sorta.
