New to group asking 4 advice

  Top of Page

Hi every one, Iam new to this group - formely fordforums and fordmods, now I have sold my ford and have been desperate to get into a Liberty.  I dont have the best of budgets would love a 99+ B4 liberty but had to find at my budget sad
I have found 2 liberty's that i am considering.  The first link is for one I can purchase for $17000.  Just wanting some thoughts from anyone who has time.  Iam pretty fussy and want a nice one, obviously as time goes on I would like to add - sunroof, nice wheels and a nice exhaust.  Does anyone have any tips, thoughts or advice?
I look forward to contributing more to the group.  Also how do I view peoples rides to see their cars??

Im not sure what I have done - not sure how to copy and post a link.  It is on carsales.com.au, private sale, i searched 15000-20000, sub, liberty, manual, QLD.
It is ruby red,, 78'000k's $19000.  After a lengthy conversation they are happy to let it go for $17000. This is my budget, and looking at purchasing one soon - this weekend.  I wont rush, I would like a good one. So any advice would be sensational, cant wait to have my own.  IF you could ahve a look at the add?
Also on the 2nd or 3rd page is a silver one located at the gold coast 3GEN 02 special edition?

I will admit I am a ford man so i am learning about liberty's.
What is the 00,01,02GEN ?
Special Edition?  only difference I can see is sunrof?  This one has 127000ks' and I was going to offer $17500  just cant decide
Thank you

Found the car, looks nice, low kms too.
hard to give the best answer without looking at the car in person.

I would take it for a drive, and see how she goes, also I would recommend getting an NMRA or RACQ check.

I like the SE also, the main differences are that you get a MOMO wheel and sunroof with difference wheels, and I think Koni Suspension.

With just looking at adds, I would pick the SE esp if the 100k service has been done.

I hope that helps.

Thanks heaps for the response, thanks for taking the time.

Yeah i have looked at a few and I guess I have narrowed it down to those 2.  Havent made an offer on the silver one yet but if they accepted 17-17.5 i would be happy.  I guess I was more keen on the red one as it has low k's.  But i do like the silver one - may sound silly but I would love a sunroof.
I heard with the 100k service the timing belt is done or should be done?

One more question is there any where on the site that peopl display pics of their cars etc.  Ive heard a little about "my ride" but cant seem to find any gallery as such, I would love to see some peoples cars.

Well i have a decision to make, hard one!!
Thanks again

gen1 = 89-93
gen2 = 94-98
gen3 = 99-03
gen4 = 04-current

they are the different body shapes. special editions are liberties with goodies such as leather, alloys, sunroof/s etc. which basically means they are runout models for when the new shape was going to be released. if i were you i'd look at an 00-01 RX sedan or wagon as you can pick these up for around 15-16k.

Thank you also, I had a feeling it was different models similar to BMW with the E36, E46 etc.
I have seen a few for 15+ but i guess im looking at the SE as it has sunroof etc, doesnt have leather though sad

Ill have to give some serious thought to which one to buy.

Yes the timing belt is changed at 100k.

If I was buying I would get the SE, sunroof is the icing on the cake smile

Welcome to the site champ,

Sunroof is the only thing missing out of the B4, I just don't understand who chooses what options are on what car when they release them.

Re: New to group asking 4 advice

Thanks to all who have made me feel welcome with my first post.

Such a dilema, to be honest Iam a bit torn between:

01 Lib RX 78k's Ruby Red one owner great as new cond etc for $17000
Or (maybe better at resale when upgrading to a newer Lib)

02 Lib RX Special edition (sunroof, momo wheel, no leather) 130k's $17500
     silver.

Love the idea of the sunroof etc, I like both colours however the red one has only 78k's.  Silver one has had the belt done at 100k.  My plan for which ever is simple mods like - 17/18" wheels, possibly new springs, and I would love a B4 bonnet (with scoop).  Time will tell, gotta pick the car first.
Ahh well, I appreciate everyones advice.

Only SE's came with factory Sunroof, there was a GX SE that came with it.

If you hang out for a Heritage you get a sunroof (twin sunnies on the wagon), leather, 6-stacker, but auto only.

There is cheaper option. smile
You can buy Gen 3 Liberty with high kms and good body and do conversion to B4.
That is what I did and cost me approx $19000 to $20000 including car and everything (even seats, door trims, fuel pump, rear diff).
Now I have full B4 conversion with 45000 kms.
