by MH3.0R on 17-11-09 07:03 PM I received an email inviting me to try the new forum site. The email mentioned my old user name so I tried to login. Didn't work. So where is the link to Site Admin on the home page when you have problems?

Hi FOZ13, Sorry to be so negative on returning to the site, but a little frustrated on this end. I used IE6 with XP SP3. Username is unchanged since joining a couple of years ago, MH3.0R. After I reset my password, the site decided to recognise me. Also found some additional problems - cannot activate any options within the pull down lists in Forum, Community, Tech or Product Reviews. The lists are displayed, but when I move my cursor down to select one, the list box closes. Also tried to edit/update my profile and there are strange options in the pulldown lists. e.g. Gender, only option is "1". Same for Country and others. Kind Regards, Mark. |

Hi XoN, Have reset the password. Maybe related to the IE 6 XP SP3 that I am running. But this is the only site I have had trouble to date. All pages are slow at this point. Kind Regards, Mark. |

by Konvict on 17-11-09 09:32 PM Its def. an IE6 issue, IE6 should be discontinued. Update maybe? I know that being on a work computer sometimes updating isn't an option.

UPGRADE from IE6 NOW!!! It is the death of all the beautiful websites that get created still to this day! Many extra hours spent "hacking" or "fixing" for people who don't upgrade! Get with the times please. I second the firefox idea. Now I got that out of the way (web developer, sorry IE6 really bugs me), I like the cleanliness and the look of the new site, but what's with all the html errors? Why go to the trouble of making something look great but not structurally sound? For the web developers try using Firefox with the latest version of firebug, and also the add-on: "HTML Validator" using the SGML Parser... it saves heaps of time instead of going to W3C back and forth. But as I said very pleased with the look

As a fellow developer/designer Firefox is so 2009, Chrome is the new Firefox . So quick and easy to use. I still <3 firebug. Best tool ever
I will look into the HTML Validator sounds interesting... Thanks! |

The HTML errors are inherent with combining different modules and plugins from different sources. Some people will adhere strictly to W3C, others just don't give a sh1t. We've ironed all the show stoppers out but obviously there are still some less major ones to fix on the run. And not to worry, we use firebug as well as Chrome and IE8's developer tools a lot

Phat I've created a plugin that works directly with your keyboard. When you need to go to the top of the page just press the "Home" key

Ha ha ha, that was the first thing I thought of too. As mentioned by someone else on another thread can we get the default setting on the 'subscribe' box set to unchecked? |

Well as per process we are addressing all the feedback received. I'll address your post point by point: 1. Slow regardless of browser. Slower than what? on average what is the page load times? what metrics are you running? ie 2. Not much we can do there sorry, try adjusting the brightness on your monitor. 3. The forums appear to not have any structure. The structure of the forums hasn't changed since we launched, what are you referring to? Any further information appreciated. |

by walts on 19-11-09 10:15 AM Yeah lets ALL change our monitor brightness just for ozlib, That's a poor answer Foz, who chooses grey writing with a white backgroud? It's especially hard to read in the search bar on the home screen! |
