Good to see that you have seen the light!!  Too many pumped up WRX's out there. Instead pump up a real car!  Libs are the way to go.

Welcome to the forum.

Don’t get me wrong, WRX is a nice pumped up sprint box but for a long ride is a pain in the rear and at my age looking for some comfort. Fitting a twin turbo in my GX  and this time it will be all factory standard. Sick and tiered spending money pumping up cars….lol

Looks good man. Can't wait to hear how it all goes. How long you had the motor for?? Looks like you've spent a bit of time on it.

Well , there is some story to tell, went to buy a half cut three weeks ago for a local supplier and he delivered it, after disassembling the whole lot I realized the diff  had a hole..! Furiously :angry2:  you can imagine it …. called the supplier and he picked up the engine and gearbox only but left all the rest of the half cut. (goodie.. now have plenty of spares :beee: ) The next day he gave me another half cut, (lol) this time I made sure no holes to see. Spent some time into cleaning the engine with aircraft chemicals and all the gold stuff you see has been aeroplated as there was some rust on the exhaust components and some other parts. I am replacing all the hoses and steel lines will be all aeroplated.

When I did my front cut I bought one of those cotton wheels that go on your bench grinder & a block of the brown polish then attacked all the alloy bits, brings them up like chrome, then I sprayed them with Incralac, the stuff (designed as a brass laquor) lasts for years.
Please explain the aero coating process & rough costs
Thanks, Tom

All metal items in an aircraft are electroplated thus preventing rust and cost depends on the size of the item to be plated. To give you an idea, all metal items electroplated for my engine the cost was $ 500.00.  that includes all the brakes components.

First welcome to the site and glad you found us big_smile

As for the work your doing, it looks fab mate, just a question with electroplated, does this reduce how heat dissipated from these parts?

Because when you chrome items, heat transferring is not as good?

Cheers

That is truth with chroming as it does ad some layers (copper) a good heat retention. Aeroplating cleans the items and the added layer of 000.12 mm gold or silver plating doesn’t retain any heath.
