New Lib STi ed owner

  Top of Page

Hi everyone, been put on to you guys after my recent aquisition, by a couple of WRX owners at work

Just purchased a couple weeks ago my second Subaru, a brand new MY08 Lib GT spec b tuned by STi wagon 6spd manual.
Before that i had a 2006 MY07 Outback 3.0R Premium which i couldn't fault except some sunroof hiccups.

My new Lib sat in the showroom right by the service desk and each time i went in, it always just drew me in. Eventually we just couldnt part company any longer. It still only has 775km on the odometer as i've travelled away for work, cant wait till I get that key back in the ignition.

Looking around the site, where do u edit ur Signatures? Or do i need to post a few times first?

Below the black wagon in the top left hand corner of your screen that sits about level with the OZliberty you will see User CP. Click on that and it will open a window with Edit options down the left hand side.

Welcome to the site.

Thanks guys for the welcome... as for pics I shall try sort you out tonight, some on my camera easy enough, others on the phone which some reason my new laptop wont connect the bluetooth.

Its Obsidian black... I owned a Black V8 Ute years ago and was disappointed with the aftercare work they done (paint protection, ripoff tinting) so I was well prepared when I bought this Suby. Turned down all their after care and done my own wax job by hand. Atleast if it gets messed up I know who to blame and who's going to fix it but i reckon it looks Shmick. Got Bolle Tint added allround and on the sunroof, so a black lib t/b STi wagon with dark windows looks very nice.

Pics day after i got it are on my camera, but pics with tints are on my phone (dont worry it is a 5 megapixel phone) So Ill get some earlier shots up first, then the others in a day or two after I get the pics off my phone thru someone elses laptop.

BTW Sorry my name is Craig

I too had a black wagon before and opted for the dealer paint protection. What a crock of s h i t. 3 years later it looked better after i had maintained the paint than it did from the dealer!

Ahh its wagon, as I have a few RC choppers that need transport.
Happy driving as is for a bit, It has lightweight 18" STi branded Enkei's but they are a bit bright for a dark car but none the less all what makes it a 'tuned by STi' package
I love the look of the quad tips on the exhaust all stamped with sti on the top, so Im not planning changing much in the near future. Ive heard the main restrictions like most factory turbo cars was the dump pipe from the turbo, but being brand spankers im just gonna be happy with it for now.

Just working on a couple of pics now.

With Bilstein Shocks and STi coilovers this thing handles mint... and I dont find the ride harsh when tyres are set as per the placard (32psi front 30 rear) but ive pumped em up to 36psi allround and might drop just a couple off to get it back in that sweet spot.
Shed with Bridgestone Potenza 225/(40 i think)/r18's. Make a big difference to the 215's on a work mates liberty (not GT)
Had K&N panel filter in the 3.0R Outback so swapped it into the Lib
BTW These pics are before i washed and waxed it (had covered in dust and crickey brembos know how to get your shiny new wheels dirty) And also before the Bolle Tint was put in. The rear windows have factory privacy glass but still had a film applied to them to try make it all even.
Now looks schmick.

I dont know about black on the wheels (brembos are black on it too) but shadow chromed maybe, where would i look into that?

I thought about getting the other mesh grill that  subaru sell but at $700 they can keep it.
I dont mind the chrome surround on the honeycomb sports grill fitted to my wagon, as I think it adds a touch of class amongst all the black.

I happen to have an MY07 standard chrome liberty grill that i aqquired and had fitted into the  outback i had (no mods required straight swap). Im pretty sure this would fit any Gen IV Lib or Outback fom 2004 onwards. Certainley a big improvement on the current grills in the new outbacks that scream grandad to me. Nothing but a few watermarks on it as it only done about 3000km on the outback b4 i traded it.

I may enquire about a lip spoiler that is available that fits on the tail gate right under neath the window, and ive seen side pods added infront of the back wheels on the side skirts that look alright too.

Re: New Lib STi ed owner

Couple of questions ive remembered..
Since this doesnt have VDC/Traction control etc (cos its manual) does it have an LSD.
And im wondering how much boost is being pumped by the factory turbo. A search on here i found someone say they think 14psi in an 07 gt. Is this realistic?? I woulda thought thats a bit high??

Still working away but home in couple more nights :yahoo:

hey , welcome ThirstyAs !
Nice  TB STi  .  What Limited Ed No.  ??   Nice to see some more 08s on here smile

Re the silver rims , we got some charcoal rims  $836 each , and swapped them over and sold the silver ones while they were brand new . Should be able to cover alot of the cost , I reckon charcoals would be magnifique for your wagon !

I believe the 08 Tb STi runs 15.4 max psi on the VF46 turbo to reach the 195kw , your right - its reasonably high for the STi but well under its real potential . Cant wait for the missus to let me get ours tuned and unleash some wasps :secret:

MMM I like the rear diffuser, wonder if it will fit the wagon :umnik:

Sorry, ive never had a WRX before (Personally never got into the WRX thing seing they were so over rated, but loved the libertys all the way back to when the RS was king).
10 years ago i went for a spin in a 1993 turbo wagon, it was auto but it still blew me away how blisteringly quick it was (guess most things were quick to a 17 year old though huh?) Id been out in done up skylines so i guess it had more than a bit of work done to it.

Oh yeah on another note i was having a look around the site and seeing what other guys been saying that have these t/b STi Libs...hehe I bought mine, not restricted like most of the guys that have them on Lease plans... but still its a delight to be driving a brand new car so mehchanical wise its staying as is for a bit, but yeah, a couple bits of restyling wont go astray..... I still wanna check out the lip spoiler that goes below the back window. Its an STi add on part nearly $800 before painting and fitting... for a lip C'MON!!!

Edit I am taking out th limeted edition number as i was warned against it... apparently to buy STi parts u need a chassis number so i was warned not to publish any identifiers

woah , thats on the cautious / OC side @@:scare2:

Chassis/Vin No. is completely different to a TB STi limited edition no.  , even Subaru would have trouble identifying a car just from a limited edition no.
