"Police in Western Australia can now rely on witness statements and other evidence to charge people"

This is crazy...what are the "hoon" laws like over east?

don't drive like a baseball-capped P plater in a VN commodore with 6 passengers on a friday night and you're fine.

Yeh that sounds pretty full on..

I think our's (NSW) are some what similar, but Im not 100% on all the ins and outs of them..

I know one of my mates was caught doing something like 55kmh over the limit on his P's and only copped a 12 month suspension and fines.. no impound or anything like that as mentioned in that article.

But then again, NSW has just undergone a new wave of Nazi hoon laws, so I'm not quite sure what the deal is these days.. :Dntknw:

The best way to avoid it all though is to just not act like pr!ck on the streets..

Think someone from Melb was the 1st person to lose their vehicle under the Hoon Laws.

One other guy "sold" his car to his GF in an attempt to not have it taken from him under the Hoon Laws as he argued the vehicle is no longer his....  The cops argued about it but not sure what the outcome was for that particular incident.

Theres usually "random" vehicle inspections on Princess Hwy now (near the infamous Noble Park maccas).  Luckily, the B4 doesn't stand out compared to Freddo coloured Supras and doof doof commos.

Bullsh!t, like the cops care. they'll do anybody they can get their hands on.

And the laws are rubbish, get two people together and you can say anything happened.

cops are just out for revenue raising. they will try and get you on anything and my mates mum was talkign to a cop who is a freidn and he said that they are out to get P-platers and get their licence to try and pull them back in line. They target us who have P's to much for what is fair ive even been offered a drag at the lights by a cop on a bike which i didnt take. but if they cant prove you on one offence they try there hardest to get you on another my mates and i have found who arnt " HOONS " as all young drivers are seen as. My thoughts are to target the old people whocant see on the roads a bit more and us a bit less we get tough laws placed on us because of a few bad apples and ive had p's for six months and have already been pulled over 7 times for no real reason but a RBT.

But i find these WA hoon laws are bit harsh with peopel being able to dob you in as if someone hates another they can get them on pretty much word of mouth to the fuzz. not a well thought out idea

A mate of mine (on P's at the time) was driving in a 60k zone late one night, only car on the road and a car pulled up right behind him and tail-gated him for a good 500 meters like right up behind him...

He sped up a little cos this guy was so close, turns out it was an unmarked copper, they did him for 15k's over.

Re: New hoon laws in WA

that is bull its illegal to tailgate to start with even though it hard to prove they are doing something wrong in wagga 2 new cops were placed under probation for racing each other down a main road and a lady saw it and reported it when i read about it i laughed.

when i get tailgated i just randomly brake to get the others to wake up and they back off i would have done it to them and if they hit me stiff hit they were in the wrong apart from they would damge my lib so that might get annoying until they fix it which would make it feel a whole lot better

Then they would have just done you for dangerous driving...catch 22 unless you can get video evidence or another reliable witness to back you up.

they run into the back of you.. culpable driving on there behalf no if's or buts.

same as if your sitting at traffic lights and you get hit up the ass and pushed into the car in front, its your fault as you weren't far enough behind to avoid hitting them. stupid but true.

Can't get done for dangerous driving just for braking mate. As long as you don't like, lock the brakes or something for no reason, it's their fault if they hit you :victory:

Re: New hoon laws in WA

I myself havent had a bad dealing with any cop.. i seem to get the cool cops
(the ones that like my car!!) (i had TRG pull me up for doing 100 in a 60 double demerrit easter weekend.. let me off with a warning and then comment on how nice my car and exhaust is....)
*touches wood*

but i hear of so many stories about how cops break the law in order to bust sum1. its stupid.

my mate got given 5 minutes on his yellow sticker (he wasnt being a smart arse or anything) and the cop pulled him up 6 minutes down the road and did him for driving an expired yellow vehicle.. 600 bucks on the spot fine.. such bulls**t! talk about power trip.

there are hundreds of stories out there. there is no way heresay should be permissable.. i could ring up and say that sum grandpa did a burn out leaving his drive way and they would just laugh.. if i were to ring up and say some p plater did a burn out.. bam heres the fine sonny.. impoundment eat ur heart out...

would they have to have evidence that u really did a burnout/hoon activity.. like just say they claimed u did a burnout yet there is no tyre marks.. or it could just be the neighbour that s**ts u and just wants to get u in trouble (yes they exist)

its stupid if u ask me.

Re: New hoon laws in WA

i actually got pulled over by the popo tonight on the way home. for a Randon Vehicle inspection.

thing was i red lined it coming out of the car wash and i think i was around 10k's over the limit. they didn't even notice.

the wanted to check because the CAI setup on my car whistles when i accelerate. they though it  was a turbo (teh n00bs).
they also commented on the sound.

i asked them if they had heared of these new WA laws and they thought it would be a nightmare for the popo to police. and that courts would have a hard time convicting anyone as 9 times out of 10 it would all be hearsay.

funniest one i heard..

"son, your not allowed airhorns" *pointing to BOV*

"oh sorry officer, ill make sure i remove my airhorns" *giggles to self*

cars registered as NA btw...

they really have no clue what they are looking at. thats why if they say something is illegal.. get them to point it out and tell u why its illegal.. half the time they dont know what it is smile. well here in wa anyways!

This coppa just stuck his head under my car, got up and said "Nup its N/A"
so he had an idea what he was looking at.

But yeah i've had d1cks say tell me  my car is illegaly lowered, when it has stock springs and struts that function perfectly.

the licencing centres here laugh at alot of the reasons put on the yellow sticker paper work.

brand new nissan navara ute got stickered illegal ride height.. the dude had only just bought it.. it had like 15km on the clock. the cops just wanted to be arseholes.. revenue raising. the pits just peeled the dudes sticker off with out inspecting anything.. just laughed and screwed it up and completed the necessary paper work instead of wasting more of the guys time.
