New guy with a Liberty RX.

  Top of Page

Hi everyone,

I was only a member for a few minutes before I had my first question answered... That's impressive!

I purchased a 2000 Liberty RX last September. The previous owner kindly spent some money on an EcuTek ECU upgrade an a number of other MRT enhancements. We already had a 2000 Outback Limited which is unodified as yet.

Thanks to the advice of other members I have a Tactrix cable arriving soon so I can start interrogating the ECU a bit. I'm an IT person and I like the idea of monitoring the engine with a PC. There are some great books and web sites out there on this subject so if I get the chance I'll stick some info up on the web for others.

I'm looking forward to doing more work on both cars once our garage/workshop is built in the next month.

Take care.

Hi All,

Thanks for the advice with the tactrix cable. It's working excellently and has already showed up a knock sensor fault which I've now replaced

And, I've been able to verify my 2000 BH Liberty RX is NOT OBDII-compliant. A shame in some ways but since ecuExplorer and the tactrix cable use hte subaru protocol, it doesn't matter.

I'm probably going to work on some software to graphically display the log files produced by ecuExplorer. Loading them into MS Excel or similar and creating a graph is painful. It can be done better...
