New guy already bruised and stolen from

  Top of Page

Hello team,

Well I have had my MY08 Liberty 2.5i for exactly one month and so far I have had someone back into the front bumper (damaging the front and rear - rear clip will need replacement) and the other night someone managed to get into my car, take my ipod out of the center unit and rip off my full size 17" spare!  Talk about a rude welcome to the world of the Subaru!  Note that this all happened five steps from my front door here in Sydney.

I need to replace my spare - Murphy's law = I'm sure to get a flat soon.  I've been told by the dealer (who has been amazing) that he can get me a new 17" with rubber for $550, but I don't really want to spend that much, esp because I'm not going to go through my insurance (who are dealing with my front and rear bumper at the moment.)

Is there a 17" steel rim in existance?  I was told that I could get a 16" Subaru rim/tyre because with the right size tyre the rolling diameter is about the same as the 17".  What size tyre would need to go onto the 16"?

So far my experience of the car (save for the dramas) has been amazing.  I've always had German cars, but they are a lot cheaper in Canada!  If I can keep the crooks, bad drivers and kids with keys (knock on wood) away from my car then I'll be much happier from now on!

Hope someone has some tips!

Mike

Welcome to OzLiberty mate.

Shame about your dramas though.

Move to Melbourne, dramas over. big_smile

You can get a steelie 16" rim off a forester if you want the cheaper route with an appropriate tyre.
