New Gen II Outback owner

  Top of Page

G'day boys and girls,

New to OzLiberty and Subaru's - I've just picked up a cheap Gen II Outback and started stripping out for a cleanout.

This car has obviously seen its far share of the outback...dust in every imaginable crevace and cranny :mda:

I've come from an BMW e30 M3 so the learning curve starts all over again. The cars couldn't be more different - RWD v AWD, LHD v RHD, 2D v 4D, Man v Auto, Coupe v Wagon, Fast v Slow tongue

They do share similar engine platforms however - relatively large 4's

Its nice to have a local online resource and I'm sure with some help I'll be up to speed in no time.

Any other Perth Outback owners?

Cheers
Ash

Welcome to the site Ash. Looks like you've got your work cut out for you with the cleaning.

That's a seriously old school M3! Didn't think they ever had 4s in the M3s...

Hey, welcome Ash, that Outback looks like it's been for a swim in a North West river the way the mud is caked in the back:ohmy:

At least you know why you got the outback cheap!!! You might be best to borrow an air compressor to start with before you move onto the dainty task of wet wiping

Redbook figures aside, what does an M3 of your same vintage go for....am looking for a project.

It is the original M3 - designed from the ground up to win Touring Car Championships - and it did, it is the most successful tourer ever made.
200bhp at 8k rpm smile

It will receive much better care from its new owner... smile

Good idea Ratos - I'll hit up a freind for the compressor.

LHD e30 M3 will go for 23-29k, converted to RHD will go for 29-40k.
However there are special versions of the e30 M3, such as the last of the line Sport Evo which will go for up to 100k (you'll have to find them o/s)

ALL e30 M3's are LHD - not one came from the factory in RHD, so obviously there are no Australian sold cars floating around.

Sorted e30 M3's can outhandle anything. Lots of fun smile
But very expensive to maintain.....

Thanks for the welcome guys.

Welcome to the site.

Please tell me you didn't sell that E30 M3.....

(if you have.... sell the outback, your mother, first three born, both your kidneys and anything else of significant value, and buy it back)

There are a few outback owners here. And a few members from WA. You should be able to find many a resource, and answers to any questions you have from the collective liberty/legacy/outback experts here.

Wait till Marv sees this. He'll cry like a little Catholic School boy that's been "punished" by a rabid priest on a Sherry and Viagra binge!!

You're not alone Ash, mine looked the same when I bought it and I wondered what I had just bought;  but it's probably the same again now four years later. but thats what they're for!
