New Car - Re-introduction

  Top of Page

Hi Guys/Girls,

I have just recently (2 days ago) purchase a 2001 Silver Manual B4,
and after driving it non stop since then, i am extremely happy with it!
bought it for 18 (worst part is the cost of insurance as im only 19)

Current Mods:

Ecutek Stage 2
500hp in tank MRT Fuel Pump
3" Stainless Cat-Back exhaust with 3" high flow cat
20% Tint
Dyno: 180kw at the wheels (great improvement from my old 75.5kw Gen 2 RX!)

will post some pics up when i get time (all stock on the outside, silver with the bbs wheels)

Im loving how smooth the power delivered is and the overall feel of the car.
Took my mate for a drive (owner of a 290kw ute) and he lost his stomach in it, and definately scared the girlfriend and some workmates when i took them for a drive.

Havnt really boosted the secondary much (if thats what you call the big one, turbo noob)
as i am still getting used to the thing

And because im new to the B4 world just thought i would ask a few questions:

just wondering how many people use turbo timers? and are they really necessary, will keeping the car on for 30 seconds or so help at all?

How often do you use the secondary turbo? as it almost breaks the speed limit in 1st gear anyway.

When should i do the next service and what should be changed (at 120,000k's atm and all previous services where done by the log book by S&J performance)

How many AUDM B4's are there in Aus?

And im still getting used to my alarm having it scream or stall on me a couple of times.

But overall its an awesome car and im very happy to be driving one,

Cheers, Tom

Turbo timers arn't really needed, plus they won't work well with the brant system

Dont get a turbo timer, remove the brant before it sends you insane, redline is 7500rpm, use it.

and put good oil in it quite regularly

Turbo timers are a waste, just take it easy a bit before you get to where ever your going.
Thirty or so seconds might be a good idea if you've been thrashing it. Turbos max at about 190,000rpm and idle at about 20,000rpm, doesn't matter how long you wait it's always spinning.

I would very rarely use the secondary in normal driving.  1st gear is the speed limit on most roads around me. Great through the hills though, just keep the revs above 4500rpm wink

welcome to the GEN III and B4 Greatness..Now u know how much better the gen III is over the gen II...

and turbo timers are ideal option to get if u decided to pay to get one done and the brant rewired to work with it...

Congrats mate! Silver B4's FTW big_smile

Dont feel bad about the alarm haha, im still not 100% sure with mine either.

I always just let the car idle for 30-60 seconds when i finish driving, but will get a Turbo timer when i have the $$$.

Word of advice, keep outta first gear (and stick to low RPM in second) when its wet, iv come VERY close to some gutters from taking low speed corners in first.

Post up some pics ASAP! Got any plans for exterior mods yet ? One of the first things i did was remove the chrome lip around the front grill and spray it all black... looks way better i think smile
