New Anti Hoon laws

check out these new laws. IMO i think they are to extreme and this is getting ridiculous. last thing we need is cops not knowing the correct rules and still showing their power. no offence to the police on here, but i find there are some police who throw their power around and not knowing the correct rules but do as they think is right.

thats bull.... .
i replied to that article, see the two by John.

That is just nonsense. Instead of making up laws targeting hoons, why not spend the millions of dollars they take from tax payers and fund some driver education courses?
Learning how to control a car and learning about the consequences of speedind, racing and burnout is the main key in kurbing this behaviour.
i'm 18, and i like to drive quick. Fortunately i have a drag strip and track not too far from home, however why isnt there money thrown into creating a designated drag strip for people to have fun?
Just another revenue raising plan by the government

SOO081, you come under this banner too, see they think "Hoon" AKA f**kWIT = Enthusiast.

If you get caught speeding, expect a nice old arse reeming, just because your driving a turbo charged subaru.
If it was a Mazda Metro, no such trouble. Even tho it seems must f**kWITS drive those POS'S.

i'm a father of 2 and i'm all for safety on the road, but i can't believe the pressure and punishment for doing wot we all took for granted not so long ago
,not to mention wot our oldies got away with back then.
you can't give someone a weapon and tell them not to shoot.
just seems the pollies go about it all wrong , if they were serious, they would get serious and stop pissing in our pockets

so i read the article, following stewprack's post.

its not even a reputable news source.

why should I even care?

I don't know why you're getting your knickers knotted. So hoons are back in the media spotlight....Electionmania became boring. Give it to the end of the week, and something else will come into the spotlight.

If you're stupid enough to get done twice for street racing, maybe you SHOULDN'T be driving anyway? Anyone stop and think about that?

Its just talk.

LOL HOONS! SOO081 is right, something else will be in the spotlight next week,
Man ive been to brighton once... went down to pick up a part from Shanes house and on the walk from my car to the front door there was a car about 50m away flicking it out on a corner... I walk back out of the house to my car and there is another car on the same corner attempting the same thing..... the few moments I am outside and I get to witness two nobs in action

+1

seems to me the "thread starters" or "complainers" on this topic are possibly concerned due to their "sometimes" partaking in said hoonish behaviour???

personally i dont care and will applaud when they bring in the laws, as i have nothing to worry about. its really simple, just abide by the law.

(eagerly awaits scathing replies from sooky lala immature hoons tongue )

Re: New Anti Hoon laws

My prob is i have a dirty big red P on my car.
I can drive like miss daisy and get pulled over.  So if my car makes some noise they will just ping me for that.

Simply because there kents....
Now, my theory is there isnt much point complaining about stuff i cant fix, but when the BS starts to cost me money, i get sh!tty pretty bloody quickly, not that it has yet.

I mean, my record so far is spottless, admitedly it shouldnt be, but i've been pulled over 6time's at last count, for "Random" breath tests. Its utter BS.

Re: New Anti Hoon laws

this was my P plate car and as it looked 7 years ago......

http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k63/mws078/76%20hj%20holden%20wagon/1.jpg

a hj wagon i spent 20k on over the years i had it. pretty much everything new, worked v8, etc, etc. it was a daily driver. in 6 years i was only pulled over twice for the "random check", all other times i was doin something stupid.

this wagon attracted attention more so than a stock looking liberty ever could, yet i never had a problem. ive always had modified "look at me" cars (apart from the lib) yet also, never had a problem.

but thats just me, im not a hoon.

I'm a green P plater and I kinda agree with you.

P plate stuff comes and goes in the Media, and when it does come up they have a field day on it.

At the end of the day people have all gone through a similar or the same licensing scheme as us, and would have done similar things and shared similar attitudes.

I say its just time to prove everyone wrong and show to the road users that P platers can be responsible, and that we deserve a better reputation.

There are always going to be things that can be done to help us out such as government funded training courses or track days and the like, but there will always be problems and issues associated with all of them.

Perhaps with more media exposure and more publicised meets and greets for car groups / clubs and the likes we can show enthusiast does not mean hoon. If they see P platers taking the initiative to do training courses and have track days it may help to show we do know the right place to take the car for a squirt.

Re: New Anti Hoon laws

I agree with that last line Dylan. We need some sort of Representation, wether it be a government representative, or otherwise. Because, as you stated, Enthusiast does not mean Hoon and i think that fact should be expressed to the public.

And i dont think this "Hoon" thing just encompasses P plate drivers either. I work with a bloke that owns a VS SS, its done up nicely, yes its loud, low and leary. But he drive's it sensibly. Yet he is also targeted as a possible "Hoon" by the local constabulary. When it is infact, the nuggets driving the POS GL Lancers and Excells, that have  multicoloured panels, a single working headlight and Autotechnica cannon on the back that are the real trouble. I think it goes without saying, that no self respecting car enthusiast would be seen dead in one of the above discribed vehicle's.

10k/h over = 1hr Driver Training.
20k/h over = 2hr Driver Training.
25k/h+ over = 2 day Driver Training Course.

The more it is in the media, the more people accept raising the fine amounts every few months. I believe a 2 second loss of traction now incurs something like a $500 fine.

Economically crippling someone does not make them a better driver.

Cheers,
Nik

Re: New Anti Hoon laws

how are we high risk compared to other drivers. the only reason i can see of been high risk is us having less experience. but as soup said its bull being targeted because of that p. when i was on reds i was pulled over 15 times over a 12 month period for RBT's, looking at me you wouldnt class me as a hoon my lib isnt hoonish and i dont drive like a hoon but since ive got greens im hoping it doesnt happen as much.

and for all the people who are complaining about winging f**k YOU smile im sick of bweing bullied by police

this is why they pick on P platers

and this one

its statistics, young drivers are crap in general so they get more attention, simple. When ya get older and lose the P plate you'll get less attention, even more simple. Until then suck it up, everyone goes through it. The system isn't perfect but thats what we got.

edit: and yes really old drivers are crap too.

very valid point. to all who are bitching about P platers winging, u are the ppl that need to grow up, i mean answer this: I got my open licence the other day (paid the renewal cost, no tests or anything) so does that mean that im a perfect driver now that i am a "experienced driver"?????? im classed as 1 so do i miraculosly evolve into that said "perfect driver"

its a proven fact: the nail that sticks out gets hammered! who said that us enthusiasts are un-educated.

with the artical stated, how do witneses know that the car was travelling at speeds of up to 160 km/h???? i was pulled over by an officer who was "trained in speed judgment" in my "hoon" car (a 1987 corrolla hatch with a canon) the officer claimed i was doing in excess of 80km/h which i was fined for but yet my speedo said 60 km/h??????? had i of known that he was in the wrong i would have taken it further. how do u do a degree in revenue raising because i would like to make some money on the side or for my retirement.

retaliation . . . . . . . . . .
