Need some info on brumby and L series

Hi guys, can any one answer a couple of ? for me,
92 brumby ute needs ,Rings , bearings, gaskets, lifters(maybe) and gear box needed work . The boy cant not fix it as still paying for it. Question is what is the motor numbers as(example ej22) and Is the L series motors and gear box the same or can be made to fit. Are the front guards the same as well. If any one can point me in the right direction for research would be appriated

L series has an EA82 motor (OHC).
MY series (ie brumby) has EA81 (OHV)

The five speed dual range gearbox commonly found in the EA82 L series can be made to fit the the EA81 with some minor modifications. Its actually a common conversion.

your best bet would be to see the above website. a plethora of information on the older subarus (especially pre EJ).
