what do you mean by proper high flow 2.25" or 2.5" rear muffler? is that the same as getting a 2.25" sports system? how much do you think im looking at for that? roughly. i checked my quote and it wasn't a 4" cannon it was a 3".... |

by WhiteRX on 23-04-08 11:18 AM A cannon has no real noise restriction qulaities as they are typically just an oversized extention to your pipe work.

Yes Ive learnt that over a few NA cars and my mate also owns an exhaust shop and knows his stuff too. I have a 2" system on my 2.2 Lib with the above mufflers as stock piping is only 1 3/4". You do need some backpressure on a stock NA motor. |

by mayno1234 on 29-04-08 05:56 PM being a welder by rade i was thinking of making a full 3inch exhaust system for my car instead of just having a tip........ Is there any thing i need to no before tackling this? |

by Evil_VZ-T on 29-04-08 07:01 PM for an engine to work efficiently it need to get the exhaust gases out quickly. too small of an exhuast is too restrictive.. whereas to large will not ave enough back pressure to pull the gas out.

cars need an amount of backpressure to run properly... this is provided by the turbo on a turbo car and therefore after the exhaust it can be as big as possible pretty much... on n/a this is provided by the exhaust and therefore going tobig will lose power and turn the car into a pig |

by Soop on 29-04-08 07:09 PM Personally, i use a 2.5" press bent system on an EJ22, yes it did loose a little torque down low. But pffft, its a POS 2.2 so it didn't have much anyway. |

|
by Blaeven on 03-05-08 10:57 PM if you demand an oval muffler instead of a cannon, is that the better option?? |
|
Re: NA exhaust system thread. |
|
|
by Soop on 03-05-08 10:58 PM It muffles the sound better, depending on the quality of the muffler. |

Re: NA exhaust system thread. |

by CRUISN on 04-05-08 12:35 PM The path through an oval straight through muffler normal enters on one side and exits in the centre so you have a slight change in direction through the muffler, which gives a better note and a quieter sound than a cannon thats straight through. |
